Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

Be part of the biggest weekend of running in Scotland! Runners of all abilities from the very young to the very old and all those in-between will descend on Glasgow city centre over the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September.

Have a look at a few of the special moments from the 2017 Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, which welcomed over 30,000 people to the start line who were taking part for a number of reasons that included raising money for charity, reaching personal fitness goals and enjoying a day out with family and friends.

The Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run half marathon welcomes thousands of runners to the city of Glasgow every year. The course starts in the centre of the city, in George Square, and from there takes runners past a selection of Glasgows finest venues and buildings. As well as crossing over the River Clyde, runners will take a trip through Pollok Park and Bellahouston Park, before heading back for the grandstand finish on Glasgow Green.

Televised live on BBC television, up to 30,000 runners will take on their chosen event from a Toddler Dash, Junior Run, Family Mile, 10k or Half Marathon.

This friendly, club organised half marathon is open to runners aged 18 years and over and will be held on roads in and around Kirkintilloch. The route includes Milton of Campsie, Lennoxtown, and Torrance and Lenzie. The course is challenging with some undulations but also has recorded some very fast times and allowed many runners to set personal best times.

The event is held on public roads and with the support of Police Scotland and East Dunbartonshrie Council enables the runners to be able to run safely through the scenic countryside and towns of the area.

Please note that runners should aim to complete the course in under 2.5 hours; marshals may be withdrawn after that time.

The race starts a 9 am on Sunday 7 October with registration at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre close to the town centre. Changing facilities are available from 7.30am.
