What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

For the Millennium Way Back, in April, youll park and register at Newport Cosy Hall, and then board the coach for a the 41 mile trip to Burton on Trent.

Youll run as fast as your little legs will carry you along the pretty much flat course all the way back to your car. You have a leisurely 12 hours in which to do it too. Yes you did read that right, the course is essentially flat, for 41 miles. There is a miserable 300ft of climbing on the whole course. Beyond Marathon are normally well known for tough hilly events, so weve gone soft on this one. Well, we like to throw you a bone now and again. Just this once mind you. The next event we setup; well ensure theres 5 miles of vertical to make amends for this.

This is a 10km run on mixed terrain through the villages and lanes around the village of Orston in Nottinghamshire. In 2018 this event will take place for the 4th time. The previous runs have been in the beautiful spring sunshine with a great atmosphere amongst the competitors and volunteers. This year there will be medals for all runners and prizes for the first male and female runners in both events. We have also gained a reputation for serving up delicious cake free to all runners after the event!

We are in the process of affiliating to runbritain (as we have been in previous years) and will have a race adjudicator present on race day. Please note that the total distance of this run is slightly more than 10km but as it is mixed terrain it is stilled classed as a 10km run under runbritain guidelines.
