How can I make sure I’m volunteering with my friends?

We will be sorting you into Color Zones on the day, so just let us know the morning of that you want to be with your friend and we will be sure not to split you up!

Do I have to be a certain age to volunteer?

You must be a minimum of 16 years old to volunteer at The Color Run

I would like to volunteer at The Color Run

Please email your interest to [email protected] and we will get our Volunteers Coordinator to contact you ASAP.

What is in the Color?

Our colored powder is made from corn starch and food dye. It is 100% natural and completely safe and edible (However we don’t suggest eating it!). Likewise, it is both gluten and nut free.

Do we have to wear the super cool Color Run t-shirt at the event?

To begin with, we don’t know why you wouldn’t want to wear our awesome Color Run Participation t-shirt… Now seriously, the Color Run tees are more than just a fashion statement. We use them to identify registrants, making them a crucial part of our risk management procedures. However, as children aged 5 and under don’t get a Participation Pack unless purchased separately, they are all good to just wear a plain white t-shirt. They’re special.

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the color zones?

Our race photographers are generally fine shooting from a medium distance of 50 feet, but to be totally safe we always recommend covering cameras/phones with a protective dust wrap. Those colorful powder particles are sneaky and The Color Run is not liable for any damage that might be done to your camera!

Can spectators attend the post-race Finish Festival?

Absolutely. We will have The Color Run powder packets available first come/first serve for everyone to purchase at The Color Run Store. You may want to warn them though they ain’t coming out of The Color Run party clean!

How do the post-race color throws work?

At the Finish Festival, the crowd will be involved in a color throw every 15 minutes to welcome new runners coming in. We provide one bag of color for each runner as you cross the finish line and more packets can be purchased on race day.

How is the color administered along the course?

You will see smiling faces along the course whose main goal is to douse you in colorful powder to ensure that you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?

For the safety of our runners and animal friends, we do not allow animals at any of our races

Can I bring my pram?

You are more than welcome to bring along your pram to the event. We suggest it be an all-terrain pram as there may be a few grassed areas throughout the course. Your pram is also likely to get a little colorful so be sure to cover it up if you would like to try and avoid this.

Can I bring my bike or scooter?

Due to safety concerns, unfortunately we cannot allow for any bikes or scooters on our course!

Is the event wheelchair friendly?

Our courses are all wheelchair friendly. However, many of our events are on grass or possibly uneven ground. Therefore, we suggest an all-terrain wheelchair or bring along a friend with you who can help you out through some of the trickier parts of the course.

Also keep in mind, your wheelchair will get colorful! Be sure to protect your wheelchair if this is of concern to you.

Is the color harmful?

It is 100% natural and completely safe and edible (However we don’t suggest eating it!).

If you are concerned about the colour affecting your face, we encourage you to wear a pair of sunglasses and a bandana or facemask to prevent inhaling too much of the colour. We would strongly suggest this if you do suffer from asthma or a similar condition. Likewise, if you are concerned about any of the negative health impacts of the colour, we recommend that you consult a doctor before committing to The Color Run.

Is The Color Run timed?

The Color Run 5k is not a timed event. Runners tend to take their sweet time out there and we realised no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

Do the kilometer Color Zones affect runner vision? Or breathing?

The color powder used at The Color Run event is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. Our bright colors are a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and FD&C dyes. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our certified color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by. Some Color Runners opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths.

Is The Color Run safe?

The health and safety of our participants and our employees has always been at the forefront of our minds and actions. As a professional events company with highly vetted policies and processes, we conduct thorough testing to ensure the safety of our materials and their application. The Color Run has hosted more than 500 global events with more than four million participants and is committed to staging safe and secure events.

How can I protect my hair?

While the colored powder will usually wash out after a few washes, we do suggest you take a few extra precautions on event morning, especially if you do have blonde hair.

We recommend you put oil through your hair before participating. This could be a morrocon oil, coconut oil or even a leave in conditioner. You may also want to get creative and cover your hair with a wig, hat, shower cap or bandana, especially if you do not want to risk having any color in your hair post event.

If wet weather is predicted, we strongly recommend you take these precautions and cover your hair. As the powder tends to stick more when it is raining, it is much more likely to result in damage to your hair (It can take up to 14 days to remove all traces of the color from your luscious locks!)

Does the color wash out?

The color will wash out of your clothes after one or two washes, however, we do not suggest that you wear your favourite designer gear! Wear something you wouldn’t mind getting a little colourful!

The colour may stick to your shoes a little more, so you may notice a spec or two in the weeks following the run. Let it be a reminder of how great your day was! Or if you would prefer to keep your runners in perfect condition, we suggest you wear an old pair.

We will also have a Cleaning Zone at the event that will blow off the majority of excess color. Be sure to stop by there before heading home. There will also be Personal Seat Protectors available here, designed specifically to protect your car/train seat/bus seat.

How does the color affect the inside of cars?

Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, or a change of clothes just in case.

Do you have a cleaning station in The Village?

We have air blown color cleaning at the finish line. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are good for the drive home. It is actually pretty fun to see people still colorful around town after The Color Run event.  It is like a badge of honor!

Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?

The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful.

What happens if there is bad weather?

A little rain won’t stop The Happiest 5k! It even makes the color brighter! If there are major weather warnings in your city during the weekend of the event, stay tuned for emails with updates.

In the event that severe weather does threaten the event, we have prepared some weather cancellation policies and guidelines.

We participated in the colour run on 2016 and the course was so much better..Where were the slime and confetti station this year? That was what our kids were looking forward to the most! (they were too little to do it with us in 2016)Also far too long a distance to get to the first colour station with kids...Didn't seem to be as many participants as 2016 so the atmosphere wasn't was exciting.

More colour stops particularly at the start! More slurpee dispensers for a shorter line and have more awareness of medical help when needed
