Absolutely stunning course through a World Heritage listed area. It's a mix of running which is extremely technical in large parts involving many large tree roots and rocks to navigate, more runnable trail in other parts, and boarded or flat sections for the rest. However as it's all along the Overland Track there isn't really an option for the organisers to change the course to avoid such things, so it is what it is. Expect some brutal sections. As it's self-supported there's also a large degree of organisation required by the runner, and with only 2 possible bail out points you have to be 100% prepared for the run. Not something to undertake unless you're sure you can do the distance. However if you have the ability and are well prepared you'll be rewarded with one of the most stunning runs you could possibly do.Organisers and volunteers were fantastic and the atmosphere was really friendly and laid back.

This is possibly the most breathtaking ultra in the country, if not the world. It's harsh under foot, with roots and rocks for 70% of the course (so expect to move slowly if you're not super-agile), but every section is incredibly beautiful. This is a real community run, too - expect a great weekend in the mountains and lakes region of Tassie!

Superbly organised - logistics with travel and accomodation made it a lot less stressful getting to the race line (particularly for those travelling interstate). I also appreciated all of the effort put in by race volunteers, particularly sticking around for the stragglers like myself. Was made to feel like royalty at Narcissus.
