Enjoy this gorgeous National Park along some idyllic trails. Great as an intro into what trails are all about, with help from some old-dogs no doubt, this course is an easy to follow Aussie Classic. Come for the views a million miles from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Wilsons Promontory National Park offers brilliant opportunities for those of all standards. The Darby River trail is a fantastic intro into trail-running while the awesome scenery gives those more experienced runners the type of trail they crave. And only 3 hours from Melbourne its easily accessible.

Race: Hydration stations will be available at he start and finish line while the course will be marked out clearly.

Refreshments are also available at the finish line.

Course Details

Darby River Run Course21 km Half Marathon

  1. Start at the Car park head out to the beach (1.1 km one way) and return to the car park
  2. Cross the car park and head up the hill and out to Tongue Point.
  3. Turn around at Tongue Point and run to the junction. Take the path to the right up to the hill to Darby Saddle.
  4. At the Darby Saddle checkpoint turn around and retrace your steps to the junction to Tongue Point.
  5. Continue on to Tongue Point before returning along your original route to Darby River. Finish at the car park.

10 km Fun Run

Start at the Car park head out to the beach (1.1 km one way) before returning to the car park, cross the car park and head up the hill and out to Tongue Point. Turn around at Tongue Point and retrace your steps to Darby River car park.

Raceday Logistics

Registration is from 9AM. Start time is 10AM for both races.

Please arrive at least 15 mins before the start. Please be at the start line 5 mins prior also for a pre-race briefing.

The presentation will be at 12.

The race starts at Darby River car park, Wilsons Promontory National Park - parking is available.

What to Bring

Given the nature of the terrain and the changeability of the weather all runners should be prepared to carry with them the following safety equipment:

Mandatory Equipment

  • Water (minimum 1/2 litre)
  • Personal first aid kit including Broad bandage—for snake bite/ankle sprain. 10 cm restrictive—not crepe
  • Mobile phone

Optional Equipment

  • Waterproof and windproof jacket with hood
  • Waterproof and windproof overpants
  • Beanie and gloves
  • Sun screen/sun hat

A decision will be made on the morning as to what gear must be taken.

Snakes are present in the area and are often seen on the track or on the side of the track. In most conditions they will move away from people. Please treat them with caution, wait for them to move away or go around them. Treat all snakes as poisonous.

What should I do if there's a bush fire?

If there is a code red bush fire the event will be cancelled and re-scheduled.
