The main event is a 50km run along the paths of the Gold Coast beachfront, from Kurrawa to Coolangatta and return. Shorter events include the 30km, 15km and 5km events, along with a 2 person relay (2 x 25km) or the new 3 person relay (30km, 15km and 5km).

What’s Included

Race Pack Postage

At the point of entry, you can opt to have your race pack and singlet posted to you for a fee of $9.95.  This is highly recommended as it will allow you to wear the singlet in training before using it on race day. Each distance will have its own distinct singlet colour.

Athletes who enter during the Early bird and Standard race entry periods are eligible for this service. Athletes who enter after November 5 (late entrants) will need to collect their race bibs and singlets at race registration on Saturday afternoon or on race morning.

Race Check-in/Registration

Race Check-in/Registration will take place at the Kurrawa Surf Club for athletes who have opted not to receive their race numbers and race singlets by mail. Times will be confirmed closer to the event. You can also enter on the day at the venue.

Triple Mix Relay

For those competing in the Triple Mix Relay – you will start the event in the designated start for your distance. For example, the 30km runner will start at 05.45am with the 30km field & the 15km runner will start at 06.15am with the 15km runners. Your team time will be a cumulative time of all three runners times.

FAQs

Aid stations

Competitors in the longer events are encouraged to carry their own supplies as the weather can be quite warm at this time of year, especially on the return leg. Full aid stations will be positioned at 5 km intervals and will carry water, sports drink, Coca-Cola, chopped banana and glucose type lollies. These are situated at 5km, 10km, 15km, 20km and 25km, 30km, 35km, 40km and 45kmmarks.

Water stations only will be placed every 2.5km in between each aid station to allow athletes to fill camel bags or water bottles.

Don’t forget you can use one of the many showers located along the beachfront to cool down or refill your bottles.

Personal supply drop (50kms runners only)

We will drop any personal supplies (Bars, gels, drinks) at the 25 km turnaround at Coolangatta. Leave in the box provided at race registration.

First aid

For cuts and abrasions, the aid stations will carry First Aid kits. A qualified paramedic will be on hand to attend to anything more serious. Emergency contact numbers will be shown on the back of your race bib.

Trophies

Solo 50 km, 30 km, 15 km & 5 km to first, second and third place male and female. Two-person relay trophies for first place male, female and mixed teams. Three-person relay trophies for first place male, female and mixed teams

Medals

All finishers will receive a finisher medal for participating in the GC50 Run Festival.

    I would have liked the aid stations to be a bit closer than 3km especially over the last 15 to 20km as it got hotter.

    I would like more atmosphere food/drink drop off at the Half way point, more ice at the later drink stops and better markers where the course changed for way back side streets and back of Burleigh and around Miami stairs was confusing as I have fun the other way 5 times.

    Fun event with not too many people meaning this is a good event as a first time of for kids to get involved in.

    Everything was clearly identified and organisers tried to inform participants of details prior to the event via the FB page, video links and various social media outlets. Well done and as this was my first time at this event, I felt quite prepared.
