Jervis Bay is host to the annual Long Course Weekend every year. Utilising its stunning beauty as a national park, we've brought to you courses spanning multiple disciplines, all involving spectacular views. From gliding across the crystal clear waters in the Jervis Bay Swim to trekking along the beach in the Jervis Bay Marathon, there's a variety of distances and disciplines for you to choose. In Long Course Weekend you can do either the Swim, Bike or Run individually or you can treat it more like a triathlon event and do all 3 disciplines at the maximum distances available across the 2 days to become an LCW athlete and earn yourself the 4th medal.

Long Course Weekend Jervis Bay routes

FULL LCW (Saturday & Sunday)
Jervis Bay will once again play host to Long Course Weekend in 2019. This unique event lasts two days in November and is the perfect way to start your season of racing. This fun inclusive format is ideal for clubs, training groups and families to come along and enjoy the benefits of training and racing together. Design your own event by choosing from a range of different distances, held from Friday – Sunday.

On Saturday Morning - the Long Course athletes have The Jervis Bay Swim to complete – a 4km open water swim that takes place at Jervis Bay. The Jervis Bay Swim event also has a 2km swim and 1km swim.

On Saturday afternoon - the attention turns to The Jervis Bay Gran Fondo – 90km of the undulating countryside that also incorporates 30km and 60km distances to attract athletes of all abilities.

To finish the weekend, the athletes will complete The Jervis Bay Marathon – a 42.2km marathon taking in the beautiful coastline of Jervis Bay and Huskisson. There is also a 21.1km run, 10km run and 5km run on offer.

The Jervis Bay Swim (Saturday morning)

Arguably one of the most scenic swims in the World

With a variety of Swim distances (1,2,4KM), this event is perfect for the first-timer through to Athletes training for their first half or Full Ironman.

The Swim Takes place at the beautiful Callala Beach.

This year the start and finish line will be on the beach, allowing the crowds to create a sensational atmosphere.

The Jervis Bay Gran Fondo (Saturday afternoon)

Distances: 90KM / 60KM / 30KM

Cycling out from Callala Beach, this looped course is great for any athlete.

With a variety of Bike distances, this event is perfect for the first-timer through to Athletes training for their first half or Full Ironman.

Already becoming the talk of NSW, put this stunning race on your event calendar this year - Oh and with the multiple distances, bring your mates too!

The Jervis Bay Run Festival (Sunday)

If there was ever a run route worthy of a Sunday run, this is it!!

Out and back across the stunning, traffic free, Jervis Bay coast. The course allows for a lot of athlete interaction, large crowds and moments of Dolphins and Whales basking in the Ocean.

With distances from 5k, 10k, half marathon and Full Marathon; there really is a distance for everyone.

With this being the last day of the two day Long Course Weekend Festival, you can even stay a little later and have a cheeky beer with the thousands of athletes that have come from all over the world.

More than 1500 competitors are expected to attend the LCW with approximately 300 athletes attempting to receive the Long Course Weekend medal, which entails completing all three of the longest distances. Successful LCW athletes will be awarded the LCW medal and polo shirt at the finish line presentation on Sunday after the marathon.

Surfing

Surfing is available all across the Shoalhaven Coast. Shoalhaven Tourism has picked various spots out for a range of surfers to enjoy the waves of the Australian Coast. From Beginner to Experienced, there are many beaches to visit and catch a wave.

Walks

Along with the various places to surf, there's plenty of spots to walk along the Jervis Bay Coast. The Australian countryside is wild and beautiful, take in the views and see sights you wouldn't even have imagined. Take a look at this list of various walks Shoalhaven Tourism have visited and picked out for your pleasure.

Outdoor Tours

The Shoalhaven coast has a wide variety of things to do, from kayaking to river cruises. There's a huge range of activities and adventures you can partake in while you're there. Volunteers

Being part of the volunteer team can involve route marshalling, manning aid stations, pre and post-race setup… and everything in between! In addition to this, your encouragement and enthusiasm to both the athletes and the team are invaluable! It’s a great personal reward for you and makes a huge difference to the athletes on the day.

For students studying event management, this is also a great opportunity to see first hand how an international sporting event is run.

GENERAL FAQ's
When and where is Long Course Weekend Jervis Bay?

Long Course Weekend Jervis Bay takes place from 16 – 17 November in and around Huskisson and Callalla Beach.

What distances are there for each event?

We offer the possibility to enter different distances within different disciplines:

Swim: 1km, 2km, 4km

Bike: 30km, 60km, 90km

Run: 5km, 10km, 21km, 42.2km

Long Course: 4km Swim, 90km Bike, 42.2 km Run

How do I know for sure that I am registered?

You Should receive an Email confirmation; this can sometimes end up in your spam folder so don't forget to check there. If you're certain you haven't received confirmation email, Don't worry! You can log into your Active account and see all the events you've entered with us over the year. If You Can't see your entries, email us at [email protected]

Can I register for someone else?

No. For safety & security reasons you must register yourself and bring photo identification so that we can guarantee we are giving the right event number & timing chip to the correct athlete. This avoids mix ups with announcements, emergency contact information on the reverse of the race number, finisherpix, and Multisport timing.

When will I receive my timing chip and BIB number?

These must be collected at the time of registration upon showing photo ID and a signed copy of the disclaimer.

Do I have to participate on both days?

No, you can also enter for just 1 discipline. If you're wondering how LCW works, then don't worry. We're here to help. The first thing you should know is that LCW is not a triathlon event. You can choose any of the disciplines and distances as individual events, it can be just a cycle event for you if that's what you want out of LCW. If you do feel like doing all the full distances though and try to earn that famous fourth LCW medal, then there are two things you must do to achieve it.

You must enter the Full LCW via our website (Do not enter them separately or you will not receive the fourth medal at the finish).

You must complete all three full distances within the cut off times for each event or you will not receive your fourth medal (You will still receive your individual event medals).

SWIM FAQS
How is the swim start organised?

It will be a mass start, therefore you will need to get into position prior to the starting gun. If you think you are in with a chance, get to the front – if not, try and organise yourselves with quicker swimmers nearer the front and slower ones at the back.

Do I have to wear a wetsuit?

Wearing a wetsuit is mandatory.

How do you marshall / ensure safety on a swim?

There will be support boats and kayaks with qualified life-saving personnel on hand. There will be a Race Briefing prior to the race, but if you have any problems, it is standard to lie on your back, raise your hand and you will be picked out the water as soon as possible.

Do I need a swim cap?

You must wear the Long Course Weekend swim cap provided for the event. This will be in your goodie bag for collection at Registration.

BIKE FAQS
What support will be available to the riders around the course?

There will be mechanical back-up and medical back-up. There will also be a self served food/water station on the course.

RUN FAQS
Can I use a personal listening device such as an iPod?

Put simply, No. It is very important that you remain aware of your surroundings for the duration of the race as some parts of the course are on open roads and others cross public pathways.

Is the marathon extremely competitive or can people of all abilities take part?

We have runners of varying ability and experience taking part – for some it is their first marathon or 10km run, while we also cater for elite runners. Perfect event for first time runners – relaxed and fun!

Is the run mainly on roads or is it multi-terrain?

The route is on closed roads and paths, with some spectacular Jervis Bay scenery.

Will there be drink stations on the route?

Yes – they will be every 2km on the route. However, if you would like to carry any energy gels to keep you going, please feel free to do so.
