Newcastle Cross Country: Hunter Wetlands

A point score is maintained throughout the season culminating in an annual presentation day with trophies/prizes given to various age, distance, handicap and grade winners and placegetters. Trophies for open, veteran and junior “distance runner of the year” winners are also presented, along with the Alec Thomson achievement award.

It is compulsory to have your athlete registration card scanned prior to commencing the run. How else are we to know that you are competing on the day? Your start time for Handicap Events, or your Grade for Graded Events along with other details will be advertised on notice boards. If you choose not to commence your run at the designated handicap time, or at the correct time for your graded event then your results will be incorrect unless you tell the volunteers when you have your finishing barcodes scanned.

Not everybody runs. We also cater for those who wish to walk and children who are under 6 and walking with a carer. We have many families who join our club and they find it rewarding to be able to compete as a family either running or walking. Quite a few people also pack a picnic afternoon tea to enjoy at the venue after the event.
