Run For Geelongs Kids is our communities newest and most exciting fun run, proudly supporting the Barwon Health Foundations Kids Appeal.

A community event like no other, this family-friendly event caters to all fitness levels and abilities and is the perfect platform for you to support our kids in need, while doing something active with your family and friends! Choose from: 10km run, 5km run, 5km TAC Family Walk, and a 1km Kids Run!

Run for Geelong routes

Start line:

The 10km run, 5km run and 5km walk events:

Race start is at the corner of Gheringhap St and Western Beach Rd and competitors head off in a westerly direction.

The 1km kids’ run:

Race start is at the western end of Ritchie Boulevard just near the Geelong Yacht Club with kids heading off in an Easterly direction.

Finish line: All events finish on Eastern Beach Rd directly opposite Steampacket Gardens.

    Race Pack Collection Schedule

    All entrants must collect your race pack before your event starts (we will not be posting them out). We encourage you to collect your race packs from our Market Square collection centre on Friday 16th or Saturday 17th November before the event.

    Collection Centre: Gallery 52 on Level One (next to Lincraft) in the Market Square shopping centre, corner of Malop St and Moorabool St, Geelong

  • 11:00am – 6:00pm Friday 16th November
  • 9:00am – 2:00pm Saturday 17th November
  • Race packs can also be collected on race morning from the registration marquee on Steampacket Gardens from 6:00am onwards.

    Race Pack Collection

    All entrants must collect your race pack before your event starts (we will not be posting them out). We encourage you to collect your race packs from our Market Square collection centre on Friday 16th or Saturday 17th November before the event.

    Categories and Prizes

    Age Categories

    The following age categories for will be recognized as part of the 10km and 5km runs:

  • Under 16 years male and female
  • Under 18 years male and female
  • 18 – 29 years male and female
  • 30 - 39 years male and female
  • 40 - 49 years male and female
  • 50 - 59 years male and female
  • 60+ years male and female
  • Age categories will be determined by your age on the day of the race, Sunday 18th November 2018.

    The 5km TAC Family Walk is not a competitive event, so no age group prizes will be awarded. But don't let this stop you from joining us for a great event

    Prizes & Awards

    Medals will be awarded to the top three males and females in each if the categories listed above.

    Spot prizes

    Get excited... there will be plenty of spot prizes awarded on the day! These will be announced during the presentations, which will take place at the finish area from 10:30am.

    Fancy dressed

    Dress up and run, walk, crawl or stroll as a participant in Run for Geelong’s Kids for your chance to win some great prizes in our fancy dress competition – exact prize to be announced.

    School groups

    We encourage all school kids to come and participate in the Run for Geelong’s Kids events and we will award a GREAT PRIZE to the school with the most school students participating on the day. School students should select the school they are from in the drop-down list of schools in the online entry system.

    Can I enter on the day?

    Yes, there will be entries taken on the day at the start line between 6.00am and 7.00am. Entry fees will be more expensive, please see our registration page for details (we do encourage you to enter via the website before November 5th).

    What happens if I enter and / or collect my race pack and then don’t do the event?

    Never fear! You don’t need to notify the organisers if you are unable to participate on the day. Your number plate and timing tag is disposable so you don’t need to return them to us. Unfortunately you can’t transfer your number plate to another person to use.

    Will a race information pack be sent to me before the event?

    NO. All entrants (other than Virtual Runners) must collect your race pack (including your event t-shirt and number plate) from our collection centre during the times listed on the schedule before the event. We will not be posting any items out (other than to Virtual Runners).

    What if I lose my race number?

    If you lose your race number between when you collect it and the start of the race, don’t worry! Feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we’ll arrange a replacement for you.

    I'm interested in registering my school to run in the race, how do I register?

    Great! We love having schools at the Run. Select the School you are from in the drop down box when entering and we’ll award a great prize to the school with the most students.

    I booked the wrong event or want to change my event - how can I change my ticket?

    Yes – in most cases! Changes to different events for the same ticket type are permitted, so Adult 10km to Adult 5km would be fine. Contact our team via the Contact Us page and we will sort you out.

    Do toddlers still get a T-shirt?

    Yes, sure do!

    How much is the T-shirt?

    The T-shirt is FREE and included in your registration. You cannot buy them separately.

    Do I need to bring my ticket when I come to race pack collection?

    Yes, your ticket is your entry to the event, please bring out a printed copy on the day OR you can use the QR code on your smart phone and we can scan in your ticket.

    I can’t find the email with my ticket?

    Search for "Run for Geelong’s Kids" in your inbox and check your Spam folder. If you still can't find it, use the Contact Us page to let us know and we will resend for you.

    How do I use a promo code?

    When choosing a ticket you will see a link to at the top of the form to “Enter code here”.

    Are there cut off times?

    There sure are! All events need to be completed with roads open to traffic again at 10:15am, therefore the below cut off times will be in place:

    Can I walk the 10km?

    Yes, you can walk the 10km event, however this isn’t something we recommend! The same time cut offs will still apply, meaning you will need to be able to walk at approx 5km/per hour for 2 hours.

    What weather can I expect for the event?

    The normal daily temperature ranges for Geelong during November are: November Max 22C Min 11C. However! Please make sure you check out the forecast a little closer to the event in order to dress appropriately.

    Can I volunteer?

    Yes, we love volunteers. Please head to our website to register your interest.

    Can I come and watch without paying?

    Yes, of course all the more are welcome to come along and support your friends and family and join them for festivities within the Event Centre.

    Competitor Number Plates

    All competitors must collect your race pack including your event t-shirt and unique number plate from our collection centre in the 2 days leading up to the event (or on race morning). Please attach your number plate to the front of your shirt so it is easily visible from the front.

    Medical assistance and first aid

    A professional medical organisation will be providing medical assistance and first aid services during Run for Geelong’s Kids. They will have remote/mobile first aid stations around the course as well as at the finish line (on the right as you approach the finish arch). Please approach them if you need assistance or see anyone needing help.

    Time limits for ALL Events

    Competitors should finish by 10.15am. Any competitors still on the course after this time must move to the footpath and continue to the finish obeying normal road rules. This is to allow roads to be re-opened.

    Health and safety recommendations

    We encourage all participants to ensure they are fit enough to participate in their chosen event and to seek medical advice beforehand if unsure.

    We recommend that participants are well hydrated prior to the start of the event and that they remember to drink whilst on the course.

    Please be aware that competitors are pedestrians on public roads and must follow the instructions of the race officials and marshals at all times whilst participating in the events.

    Course conditions

    Please adhere to the following guidelines to preserve everyone’s safety and enjoyment whilst participating in the events:

    Only participants who have registered and have an official Run for Geelong’s Kids race number will be permitted on the course.

    Pets, scooters, skates, skateboards or bikes are NOT permitted on the course.

    Prams are welcome but if you intend to walk and push a pram (rather than run and push a pram) please participate in the 5km TAC Family Walk
