You have probably never bothered to ride anything other than the awesome MTB park trails when you have gone to Buxton, but did you know that there are some pretty sweet fire trails around there with epic views and fun sweeping descents!

This race will see you do 2 laps, but each lap is unique. Lap one has more climbing and less of the single track where as lap two is shorter out there in the fire trails and the full Buxton trail lap. Passing through the Park HQ twice means easy access for special nutrition as well as a great spectator atmosphere

Ever been confused about what distance to enter at a Mountain Bike event?

Is 100 km too much but the other options are just side events?

The Shifty 50 Series is a mass participation Victorian Mountain Bike event series with only 50 km course options. Each event will be hosted in a different location and by different event hosts offering a variety of courses in terrain, climbing, technical sections and landscape.

50 km is a great distance, go for broke and if you blow up, shouldn’t be too far to the finish, or plug away and achieve the rewarding feeling of finishing such an event. Your training doesn’t need to be too extreme to achieve 50 km and you can try to improve on you skill and fitness through the series.

This is a series and points are being tallied. Each event will have trophies or medals for podium places and the series overall will have trophies or medals for the overall top 3 in each category

What’s Included

Medals and awards will be given out to the top finishers at the end of each Shifty Fifty series race, as well as overall medals after the third race.

Raceday Logistics

NOTE: In order to participate in this event, you need to have an MTBA license. These can be purchased when you buy your ticket. You can get 8 weeks of free trial, but after that you need to purchase a day license for $33 (or $20 if you are under 18).

RULES

Each event in the Shifty Fifty event series offers 50km (approx.) courses only. Some courses will have up to 2 laps of a course and each lap may differ. Other than a specific Junior Under 15 short course all other Categories must complete the full course for a result to count

The Series & How it Works

There are 3 rounds in the 2019 series and all rounds count towards your series result

Categories

• Junior Under 18: Male and Female

• Open 18 to 39: Male and Female

• Masters 40 to 49: Male and Female

• 50 + Age: Male and Female

The Points

1st – 80, 2nd 65, 3rd 55, 4th 48, 5th 43, 6th 38, 7th 33, 8th 29, 9th 25, 10th 22, 11th 20, 12th 19, 13th 18, 14th 17, 15th 16 and 16th to last all get 15 points each.

Did not finish (DNF) will get 15 points

Did not start (DNS) will get 0

Prizes

At each round: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in every category will be awarded a trophy. Any on the day prizes is up to the individual event host.

Series 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded special series trophies. That’s it, it's all about the bragging rights remember?

Age Calculation for categories

Age will be taken as the day of the last event in the series – May 5th 2019
