FAQs
Why are there speed restrictions?
  • The ride is not a race, but a celebration of cycling. Therefore speed restrictions are in place for safety reasons and to put emphasis on the nature of the event. The most important part is to come together as a community and enjoy the ride safely. The restrictions are as follows:
    • 10km: 15kms per hour
    • 18km: 20kms per hour
    • 50km: 25kms per hour
    • 105km: 35kms per hour

What if I can’t make the distance on the day?

  • We provide a Sweep Bus which follows each ride and can pick you up if you can’t manage to ride any further. The Sweep Bus will take you to the nearest public transport or major site so that you can make your way home from there or continue to the event village to join in on all the fun and festivities.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • You will need to carry at least one full water bottle (ideally two) to keep yourself hydrated. There are stops along the 18km, 50km and 105km route where you can fill up your water bottle and the major rest stop will also have food available for purchase. It is also recommended to carry some snacks with you. There will be food outlets and market stalls at the event village so make sure you bring some money with you to make the most of what’s on offer.

What sort of bike do I need?

  • All routes use sealed roads and cycleways. Riders are permitted to use mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrids, tandems, unicycles, recumbents – you name it! It is a ride for everyone so any bike will do! Please check our safety recommendations to be sure your bike is up to par!

Can I ride with my child in a trailer or child seat?

  • Yes, Spring Cycle is a family event for all. However, please make sure that your child is also a registered entrant in the ride.

Can I ride an eBike in Spring Financial Group Spring Cycle?

  • Electric bikes are more than welcome to join in on Spring Cycle.

Will the traffic be stopped for bike riders?

  • All riders will have to obey road rules and give way to pedestrians on shared pathways. Our route marshals are in place to direct the riders, not to motor traffic. There will be police and traffic controllers at certain points in the rides to control traffic.

Am I insured when I am on the ride?

  • Spring Cycle participants are not covered by insurance by default. To ensure that you have Personal Accident and Public Liability cover, it is best to become a Bicycle NSW Member. Existing Bicycle NSW Members will be covered by their membership and receive a discount off their Spring Cycle entry fee.

What happens if it rains on the day?

  • The Spring Cycle will go ahead rain or shine! No refunds for wet weather will be provided.

Is there a bag drop?

  • We do not have a bag drop service for the event, we recommend keeping essential personal belongings you will need for the day on your person.

I have already registered but would like to buy a jersey. Can I do that?

  • Yes, you can buy additional merchandise by logging into your active events page.

What if I register and then become injured, or am unable to attend the event?

  • When registering for Spring Cycle the terms and conditions must be accepted by each individual entrant. There are no exceptions to this rule and no refunds will be given for the change of mind. However, please see the below instructions on how to transfer your registration to another rider via your Active Dashboard.

  • Did the 105km Challenge Ride in 2018

Was a well organised and slick operation. The course was well marshalled and had a few feed stations which kept the legs moving. Slightly unfortunate with the rain and there was a slight lack of atmosphere, but this is to be expected on a 105km ride. All in all a great day out.
