The Sunshine Coast XC MTB Festival is hosted in conjunction with the TreX Cross Triathlon Series which together make up an action packed weekend of off road events for the entire family.

The course is a heart pumping lap that dives in and out of the ferned rainforest with flowing single track trails within Beerwah State Forest on the banks of Ewen Maddock Dam. Choose to go hardcore with the 50k or 25k or go hard in the 8.3k sprint.

Course Details

The Sunshine Coast XC MTB Festival is based in the Sunshine Coast’s rainforest hinterland in Ferny Forest on the banks of Ewen Maddock Dam. Three course distances are on offer including:

  • 50k | 6 x 8.3km laps
  • 25k | 3 x 8.3km laps
  • 8.3k | 1 x 8.3km lap

The 8.3km MTB course is an action packed lap that dives in and out of the ferned rainforest with flowing single track trails. New riders will enjoy the flowing nature of the course, while more experienced riders will love the pinchy climbs, creek crossings, bridges and roll overs. If you’re not too tired to look, you’ll also enjoy the panoramic views across Ewen Maddock Dam along the way.

The course is suitable for those new to mountain biking, but will also challenge those with advanced technical riding skills in a number of sections.

Volunteers

What’s in it for me?

Aside from a sense of satisfaction, new friends, and a fun day out you’ll also be provided with:

  • A meal if you’re joining us for a full day.
  • A thank you gift pack.
  • And of course lots of thanks from our athletes and our team.

Is there an age restriction for me?

We can accommodate volunteers of all ages, however volunteers under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Not all positions are suited to our younger volunteers, but we definitely welcome all eager helpers and we will help you find a suitable role.

How long will my shift be?

Shift times vary depending on the role you would like to undertake. Many departments have a shift changeover, whereas in other departments we would love your help for the whole day.

When is the volunteers briefing?

Volunteer briefing will take place at a time prior to the event start. Please check your volunteer information pack for details. We ask that all volunteers are available for this briefing, as this is your chance to meet the event team and the rest of the True Blueys. You’ll also have the opportunity to take in all the information you need to know to have an enjoyable and safe time in your volunteer role. If you would like to help out but can’t make the briefing, just let us know and we will assist you in finding a role that requires minimal prior briefing.

Where can I found out about more information?

We will provide you with a volunteer information pack prior to the event that will cover everything you’ll need to know, however if you’d like to find out more about the event you can check out event details on the website.

I’m not really big on walking and I prefer being out of the elements, is there anything I can do?

Sure! You don’t have to be an athlete to volunteer at our events. Some positions do involve a lot of walking or standing for long periods in the outdoors, so we can help you steer clear of them! There are many positions that involve minimal standing, and a few that will keep you mostly undercover. If you do have any specific injuries or medical conditions that we need to account for just let us know and we’ll ensure that your role is suitable for you.
