WTF routes

100mi

The course predominantly follows the Munda Biddi Trail from Dwellingup to Jarrahdale and back. This is a mountain bike trail, though not heavily utilised, and there is rarely any conflict between runners and bike users. The image on the right shows the trail markers — when the course changes direction, follow the direction of the arrow. Trail markers can be at waist level on on posts, or nailed to trees.

There are three significant deviations off the Munda Biddi trail:mundabiddi

  • at approximately 14.9km, the trail comes onto Scarpe Rd and heads right. Runners should instead turn left at this point and follow the signs and markers to the Oakley Dam aid station. Runners will then return along the same route, passing the point where they exited the trail, and then ~300m further along, turn right back onto the trail.
  • at approx 41.7km the trail comes out onto Whittakers Rd. The trail then goes right, but runners will be directed straight ahead onto a 3.7km “out and back” section (7.4km total). Follow Whittakers road until it hits a bitumen road (Dell Park Rd), just after a steep descent down “goldmine hill”. Turn around at this point and return to the volunteers who will direct you back onto the trail. There will be a mini-aid station at this point (water only) with volunteers sending runners in the correct direction. Do not follow this deviation on the return leg!
  • on the return leg, at approx 143.7km, after running along Scarp Rd for several hundred meters, the Munda Biddi trail resumes to the left. Runners should remain on Scarpe Rd at this point and follow the signs and markers to the Oakley Dam aid station. Runners will then return along the same route and turn right onto the trail at the 146.5km point.

  • From the organizer

Welcome to the home of the Runningworks WTF 50 & 100 Miler, the first and only AURA-sanctioned 100 mile race in Western Australia.

Held annually on the last weekend in September (WAs Queens Birthday Public Holiday weekend), the 50mi and 100mi events both start at 6am on Saturday, and have generous cut-off times. The 50mi event runs south from Jarrahdale to Dwellingup, mainly following the Munda Biddi mountain bike trail. The 100mi event runs from Dwellingup to Jarrahdale and back again, along the same course, with a bonus out and back hill on the outbound leg.

    Drop Bags

100 Mile Runners will be able to drop off supplies for the aid stations. There will be tubs for this available the night before at Dwellingup Adventures (from 7pm-8.30pm) and in the morning before the race commences.

Ensure that your drop bags are labelled clearly with your name, race number, and the name of the aid station (Oakley Dam, Out’n’Back/Whittakers, Nth Dandalup Dam, Kingsbury Rd & Jarrahdale). Use one set of drop bags only for the Out’n’Back/Whittakers Rd aid station – drop bags will be relocated for the return leg.

    Mandatory Gear 100mi

  • It is a requirement that all runners carry a mobile phone throughout the race. Please be aware that reception is very patchy if not with the Telstra network.
  • Weather conditions can be variable at this time of year. Runners should bring gloves, a beanie, running tights or thermals and a jacket for night time and possible wet weather running. Runners will need to carry adequate nutrition supplies between aid stations.
  • There are long sections where runners will need to be self-sufficient between drink stations. This will mean runners will require at least 1 litre of water to be carried between aid stations. Slower runners will require more.
  • All runners will need to use a torch overnight, and should plan to collect the torch from a suitable aid station.
  • Bibs must be clearly visible at all times.
