MTB Cape To Cape Western AustraliaAugusta, Western Australia, AU

Welcome to the home of Cape to Cape, Australias largest longest running and most popular four-day MTB stage race held from 18th to the 21st October 2018. Based in Margaret River Western Australia, this iconic riding experience includes access to stunning private stunning trails, vineyard visits, brewery finishes and some of the warmest hospitality the region has to offer.
Cape to Cape MTB was first held in 2008 to a field of about 100 frothers. A decade later, it now holds the title as Australasias longest running and biggest MTB multi-stage endurance race. Over 1600 riders hit the trails for our 10th-year-anniversary ride in 2017. The grand plan from year one was to introduce a new major mountain biking event to the magnificent South West of Western Australia, one that engaged the community, showcased the fabulous countryside and something that riders would enjoy and return to year after year. From the outset we saw this event as more a ride, not a race but even the most social riders cant help but get caught up in the rivalries that four days of stage racing brings out in friends and strangers alike. Many returns to catch up with those theyve met and ridden with in previous years. Sharing stories and a beer after each days race is as much a part of the experience as time spent in the saddle.

Trails do not require a high level of technical ability and comprehensive trail marking ensure that navigation skills are not required and the only riders weve ever lost turned up stuck at a local winery soon after. With multiple check-ins and water points included, riders are well looked after. Each days racing finishes at the event village with local hospitality on offer. Every stage is unique and will be super enjoyable with the final day starting and finishing at the renowned Colonial Brewery, the perfect place to celebrate achieving something truly epic!

Weve worked hard to each year improve the experience and the course from the year before while always maintaining the friendly, social vibe that has become the trademark of the Cape to Cape.

This is the brutal world of solo endurance mountain bike racing.

The event includes an 8hr, 4hr, and 24hr event.

Everyone can take part in the event from beginner through to the competitive rider. The aim is to complete as many laps in the race time period as you can, either as a solo rider or in a team of friends or work-mates depending on the category you enter. You can do one lap then change over to your next rider or do several before changing over to your next rider, it is up to you and your team in the team relay category. You can go as hard and fast as you like or take it at a slow relaxed pace and stop and start as often as you like in both the teams & solo categories. It's all up to you.

What you need to know about mountain biking

Mountain biking is riding bicycles off-road (as opposed to Road Cycling events) and often over rough terrain, using specially designed bikes with features designed to enhance durability and performance. Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: cross country, trail riding, all mountain (also referred to as “Enduro”), downhill, freeride and dirt jumping. However, the majority of mountain biking falls into the categories of Trail and Cross Country riding styles.

Find the right Mountain biking event for you

Mountain bikers ride off-road trails such as singletrack, back-country roads, fire roads, and often venture to ski resorts that stay open in the summer for such activities. Because riders are often far from civilisation, there’s a strong ethic of self-reliance in the sport. Riders learn to repair broken bikes and flat tires to avoid getting stranded. Many riders carry a backpack, including water, food, tools for trailside repairs and a first aid kit in case of injury. Group rides are common, especially on longer treks. Map navigation skills will come in handy.

Here at Let’s Do This we want to help you find exactly the right event. By working with some of the most renowned Mountain Bike Race organisations in the space, we’ve got a great selection of epic challenges below.
