Olympic Course
Swim 1.5k Bike 40k Run 10k
Beginning on Abersoch beach, the Olympic course starts with a 300m plunge into the water before participants return to the beach and reach their first marker. You will then head back into the water for the remainder of the swim (1.2k).
The bike course is an excellent undulating 40k route, comprised of a mixture of long, fast stretches of road and more difficult technical sections, breaking the route up nicely with some amazing views to enjoy across Cardigan Bay & Hell's Mouth. Athletes complete two laps of a 20km course, which means they have to tackle the 'King of Mynytho' section twice - a tough 3k ascent starting near the Glyn Y Weddw in Llanbedrog and climbing 400ft to the summit of Mynytho.
After completing the exciting bike phase of the race, entrants move onto the 10k run, beginning on the beach. The route is a mixture of tracks and roads, with a challenging ascent in the middle, returning to the golden sands of Abersoch beach for a memorable finish.
Sprint Course
Swim 750m Bike 20k Run 5k
The Sprint course starts with a 750m sea swim broken into two legs, with swimmers coming to shore after 300m to round a marker on the beach before heading back in to complete the other 450m's.
Next, the bike route is 20k one lap of undulating, fast terrain, with a some technical sections throw in., including the timed ‘King of Mynytho’ section.
To finish, there's a reasonably tough 5k which covers the beach, tracks and road with a challenging hill in the middle but it's all worth it for that euphoric finish on the beach. You then get to enjoy music, beach bar and a relaxing recovery dip in the sea!
