Overview

The Marathon route is an exciting mix of coast, city and parks. This route is predominantly flat, perfect for a debut marathon! This is a 2 lapped route, which means you have twice the fun and you know whats coming up.

Just like the half marathon and 10k in 2017, you’ll get the chance to run over the Itchen Bridge during your race journey.

At the top of the bridge almost 100ft up, you’ll experience a feast for the eyes with the beautiful view of the city, the River Itchen, commercial centre and out to sea towards the Isle of Wight.

There are many delights on this route including running across the Itchen bridge, alongside the beautiful mouth of the Solent, before running through the Premier league Saints stadium, through the huge expanse of the common, then finally after your two laps finish in front of the Guildhall in the city centre.

This event is an ideal choice for first time Marathon runners and an exciting new course for seasoned pro’s alike. We are expecting approx. 10,000 runners.

What’s Included

Each participant will receive a Technical t-shirt (not cotton), goody bag and the all-important medal.

The RB Hull Marathon & Relays will return for a special City of Culture edition.

The Marathon sees runners take a route through the City centre, Victoria Docks, into the East of the city and East Park, past RB, our principal sponsors, a return to the City centre and then the Marina before passing through a working dock, Pickering Park, Hessle, over the Humber Bridge and a return via the Costello Stadium and track, Peterpan Park and into the KCOM Stadium.

We are once again hosting both the 2 person & 4 person relay races, with the assistance of Fitmums & Friends at the three change over points. Following the same route as the marathon, these present runners the chance to still be part of the atmosphere if a marathon is a challenger too far. Form a pair or a team from work, a community group or your running club. Run just to help improve your fitness, achieve a challenge, raising funds for one of our 5 charities or all of these!

The Winchester Half Marathon is a beautiful run that starts and finishes in the centre of Winchester outside the Guildhall. It's a very scenic route through the idyllic setting of the countryside and takes in landmarks such as St Catherines Hill, Winchester Cathedral and King Alfred the Great.

The route incorporates the high street, Romsey Road and Sparsholt Road to take the runners into the heart of the Winchester countryside.

Towards the end of the route, runners will pass by St Catherines Hill, though fortunately not up the hill! The race finishes back outside the Guildhall with a picture perfect view of King Alfred. This is a day for everyone to get involved from athletes, first time runners, charities, corporate teams, and volunteers.
