Route information
The Best of the Bay Double Century Ride is a 197 mile ride split into 3 segments; To Grizzly Peak, To Mt Diablo, and to Collier Canyon Rd.
The first section is a 53 Mile route of the Grizzly Peak Loop, with around 5350 ft of climbing.
Starting in Castro Valley, the ride heads north on Redwood Rd and Pinehurst Rd, the takes Skyline Blvd out to Grizzly Peak, then passes Inspiration Point on Wildcat Canyon.
The ride then starts travelling south through Orinda & Moraga and merges back onto Pinehurst Rd to return to Castro Valley for breakfast.
The second section is a 53 mile route through Mt Diablo and to the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, with a lunch stop and around 5390 ft of climbing.
Starting in Castro Valley, the travels east to Norris Canyon via Crow Canyon. After a descent, the ride heads back through Crow Canyon Rd to climb to Blackhawk city. The route then turns onto Mt. Diablo Scenic Rd to start a tough ten mile ascent.
After a well deserved rest stop at the Mt Diablo Summit Picnic Area, the route returns down South Gate Rd, the same road you came up, the ride turns right onto Diablo Rd, head through Danville and San Ramon Valley Blvd. After a few miles the ride turns right onto Crow Canyon Rd, then right again onto Bollinger Canyon Rd to the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness for lunch.
The third and final section is a much flatter 91 mile route through Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park and Robertson Park before returning to Castro Valley. It has around 3260 ft of climbing.
After lunch, the route starts down Bollinger Canyon Rd and turns south and travels down San Ramon Valley Boulevard and then Foothill Road. After over 5 miles of flat scenic road, the ride turns right onto Geary Rd down to a rest stop at Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park.
After the rest stop, the route returns along the same roads before turning right onto Pleasanton-Sunol Road, and after a few blocks will turn right again onto Vineyard Boulevard, and travels several miles before reaching the next rest stop at Robertson Park, before returning to Castro Valley.
The Best of the Bay Century Ride is a 105 mile ride with 6800 ft of climbing. The route follows the second and third sections of the Double Century.
However, on the last section, after the rest stop at the Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park, the ride will return to Castro Valley instead of of heading to Robertson Park.

Rest Stops
There will be 7 rest stops, and each will be open for a different period of time:
  • Grizzly Peak Picnic Area: 6:15am to 7:30am
  • Castro Valley HQ: 7:30am to 9:15am
  • Mt Diablo Summit Picnic Area: 9:30am to 1pm (9:30am to 11am for the Century)
  • Las Trampas Regional Wilderness: 12 noon to 3pm (11:30am to 2pm for the Century)
  • *Sunol-Ohlone Regional Park: 2:30pm to 5:30pm (1:30pm to 4:30pm for the Centruy)
  • *Robertson Park: 4:30pm to 8:30pm
  • *Danville: 6:30pm to 10:15pm
*If you do not reach these rest stops before they close, you will not be allowed to finish the race.
