Kit List

This is predominantly a trail run but it includes sections along the roads on quiet country lanes so it is advisable to wear trail shoes as conditions underfoot can be muddy on stretches. I would also advise taking a hydration pack or bottles so you can maintain your electrolyte intake throughout the race and take gels and food to assist you with your race nutrition too. Some areas are quite exposed too so a cap, gloves, and lightweight jacket might come in handy too.

Race Bibs: These will all be handed out at registration in the conference room to the rear of the Boat House Bistro. Your bibs will contain the race number which should be worn on the front of your race vests / shorts. Race bibs will be colour coded with the ultra 37.5 mile (green), marathon (red), half marathon (blue) and the 10km (pink). At the bottom of the race bib number you’ll find a tear off Tyvek strip with correlating race bib number this can be removed and attached to your kit bags.
Chip Timing / Results: The results will be hosted the Race Director Chip Timing, you'll be sent a text of your provisional net time directly to your mobile number that you initially provided this when you registered, straight after completing your race.

Cue Medical Support: We have a dedicated team of professionally trained medics from Cue Medical our medics will be stationed at the start and finish area, and at the Browns Inlet Check Point. My R.D contact number will be printed on the front of your race bibs in case of any emergencies.

Beautiful route in beautiful surroundings, good mixture of road and trail and a challenging terrain. Well organised and great atmosphere
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

My husband ran so can't comment on the course except that he said it was challenging. However a few aspects of the organisation were really quite poor. You have to your race pack on the day as they won't post out in advance so you need to get there in plenty of time. The start is a significant walk away from the cafe area where you register. You were supposed to be at the start 15 minutes beforehand for the briefing but many people were turning up much later, obviously not realising how far they had to walk to the start. As a result, the race started a bit late. Only the people at the front could hear the briefing, the runners further back couldn't hear a thing or even the starting klaxon. After the runners went, the spectators started walking back towards the cafe area only to be faced with runners from the 10K event coming the opposite way shouting at them to get out of the way. There were no indications that there would be runners coming in, otherwise we would have kept to the sides. Part of the course actually ran on the same road as where the cars were leaving the car park, so as later runners were coming in, they were battling with cars coming the other way. This seemed very silly and dangerous and surely unnecessary. We then didn't see the results for another couple of days an only found out by accident that they were there. They were not on any of the organisers websites where previous years results were, the only way to find them was by a link buried in a previous email. Then to top things off, the photos appeared online and there was not a single one of my husband! Not one! Never experienced that before! This has the potential to be a good race but it is disappointing that after running for several years they have still not got their act together.

Fantastic race. Great organisation both in advance and on the day, and lovely facilities at the Bewl Water visitor centre - nice loos with no queues, and efficient race number pick-up and bag drop/collection. Challenging but enjoyable trail route through beautiful scenery. Well-stocked aid stations. Will definitely run again!

Hermes are great. A really relaxed and supportive atmosphere. They leverage some nearby air cadets to help with the aid stations which works well!
