Route Type Looped
This gold-rated trail running event returns for 2024, offering 14 mile, 19 mile, marathon and 50k distances. Experience amazing views of the Hampshire countryside as you run and enjoy the supportive atmosphere, with races open to beginner trail runners and seasoned athletes. Expect fully marked and marshalled routes along trail paths, with some road sections.
Starting in the heart of Winchester, your journey quickly comes to its first challenge. You'll tackle the mighty ascent of St Catherine's Hill follwed by the undulating pathways to Cheesefoot Head.
Next, you'll have a succession of 'Big Way' paths; the South Downs Way, Allan King Way, St Swithun’s Way and the Itchen Way, taking you through quintessential English countryside as the trail meanders alongside the River Itchen past Avington Hall.
It's here that the Marathon and Ultra routes diverge away and head out west to the beautiful 17th-century Lainston House. To end the route, runners will trail around Farley Mount, running back on the Clarendon Way towards St Cross and the Water Meadows.
Participants will enjoy the stunning views of Winchester Cathedral along the homestretch to the finish line.
