What you need to know

One of the most beautiful running routes in Germany leads through Blankenese, the Hamburg idyll on the Elbe. Here you will find charming waterfront promenades, spacious parks, feudal patrician villas next to white fishing houses, picturesque hills, steep stairs and always overwhelming views of the sparkling Elbe and imposing ships. Fascinating landmarks in this traditional cult run include the start at Strandweg / Elbuferweg, the Wesselhoefft-, Derby- and Hirschpark, the glorious Elbchaussee, the historic Treppenviertel, the striking Sllberg and the green Falkenstein with the Roman Garden and the rising and falling Elbhhenweg. Even the spectacle of the Elbe provides a delightful change: sometimes sluggish gray pulling, sometimes curled by gusts, sometimes silvery shiny.

Course Details

11 Km Mezzo:

The 11 km – MEZZO, equally popular with families, children and adolescents running together, as well as ambitious runners who do not want to dare the infamous Blankeneser half marathon, leads from the start to the east along the Elbe to the Teufelsbrück pier.

At the Louis C. Jacob, hotel and restaurant on the Elbchaussee 401-403 since 1780/1791, it goes down the world-famous Elbchaussee. This has been an attractive excursion route since the beginning of the 19th century and a total of 8.6 km from Ottensen to Blankenese. Through the remarkable deer park (formerly Godeffroy’s Park) with its show garden in the French style (created in 1855), the lime tree avenue, solitary trees and exotic plants and the generous Hirschgatter (since 1860) with fallow deer, waterfowl and peacocks, then the runners also pass the Witthüs , a former thatched cavalier house (built around 1800), in which the poet Hans Henny Jahnn lived from 1950 until his death in 1959 and which has long been used as a restaurant and tearoom.

6.7 Km Intermezzo:

The 6.7 km – INTERMEZZO, especially popular with families, children and young people running together, leads from the start to the east along the Elbe to the Jacobsteppe.
