My first ever marathon! I signed up to it massively impulsively because it was on my "60 things to do before I'm 60" list that I happened to find. It was definitely a tough race - It was pouring rain the entire time and I ended up getting insane blisters on my feet. Spent the last 10 kilometers literally following in some random guy's footsteps to keep going 😂. It's a mega event so the streets were full-on packed the entire way round. I remember thinking afterwards that I barely even noticed all the beautiful buildings that must have been all around me during the race! In any case - this first marathon definitely gave me the long-distance "bug" .… read more

Great race for anyone. I was excited to do it and would do it again. The organization was lacking in the corrals... Why use plastic cups at all?? No need to make them recyclable.… read more

Was good. Need to improve the finish line experience. It's obvious that you just want people to go away after they finish, which is understandable from a logical point of view but a little unfriendly. I imagine a time in the future when shivering athletes would be treated with a warming room filled with heaters and hot food and drinks and helpers to remove timing chips from shoelaces and various corporate tents giving away free products etc. Also the finishers T-shirts should be given out to people when they finish! Then they would at least have a dry shirt to change in to when they need it. Lots of the other aspects of the Berlin marathon were good.… read more

I might have enjoyed it a bit more without the rain but I suppose the organisers couldn't do anything about that!

Great race for a first-timer. Incredible support throughout. Got a bit jammed up at the start as I’m slow wave so better seeding and organisation of start waves we be beneficial.
