Half Marathon
The Abersoch Half Marathon is a breathtaking course, with some of the best views in the UK. The outstanding course contains an exciting mixture of pathways, hills, road running and, of course, the iconic finishing stretch along Abersoch beach. Taking you through the Welsh countryside around the Sarn Bach, Llanengan & Llangian areas, the event will be partially closed road.
The start will be from Lon Pen Cei within the centre of the village. Aid stations are available at miles 5.7, 8.7, 11.3 and at the finish line.
Half marathon participants will experience jawdropping views, and will be able to glimpse Cardigan Bay, St Tudwal’s Islands, Hell’s Mouth & Bardsey Island, Abersoch itself and the golf course.
2k Beach Blast
This fun beach event encourages runners to traverse a mixture of hard and soft sand and negotiate several groynes as they go. An enjoyable short distance race, this event boasts a vibrant atmosphere and amazing scenery.

Abersoch is located at the western edge of North Wales, on the Llyn Peninsula.
The best route from the South or the Midlands is to head toward Birmingham and then take the A458/A470/A487 to the Llyn Peninsula and finally the A497 to Abersoch.
From the North, it is best to enter Wales via Chester and then take the A55/A487 to the Llyn Peninsula and then the A499/A497 until Abersoch.
By Train
The closest railway station is Pwllheli, which is around a 15-minute drive to Abersoch. Trains run from London and take around 7 hours, however, it'll be well worth it as you take in some of Wales' best scenery.

Race Packs
Race packs will be emailed to participants with all the information & final instructions needed for raceday. This includes where to register and collect your race bib and timing tag.
Registration
Race bibs and timing tags can be collected either the night before the race at The Vaynol between 5-9pm, or by Race Control on Abersoch beach from 7am.
If you don't think you'll be able to attend registration you can nominate someone to collect your race pack and bib on your behalf. Nominees will need to provide a letter written and signed by you, giving permission for them to collect your number or a copy of your original online order. Your nominee is also required to bring some identification (for example, their passport or driving license).
Age Requirements
All entrants must be 17 and older to enter the Half Marathon. For the Abersoch Holiday Homes 2k Beach Blast, entrants must be 5 and older to enter the event.
Cut-Off Time
There is a cut-off time of 3 hours and 15 minutes for the Half Marathon, in which all entrants must complete their run in.
Water Stations
There will be water and energy drink stations at 5.7 miles, 8.7 miles, 11.3 miles, and at the finish line.
Prizes
There is £1,000 in prize money, product prizes and a trophy to first man & first woman. Prizes are awarded for Open, 40+, 50+ and 60+ categories.

Spectators are welcome to accompany those competing in the race and the Abersoch Beach finish provides a great vantage point for supporters looking to cheer on their friends or family.

Is there an age limit at the Abersoch Half Marathon?
There is a minimum age of 17 for the Half Marathon, however Beach Blast entrance is open to all.
Do I need to be a certain level of fitness for the Abersoch Half Marathon?
The event has a cut-off time of 3 hours 15 minutes, so please make sure you can complete the distance in this time.
When can I collect my race pack for the Abersoch Half Marathon?
Packs can be collected either on the Friday before the race between 5pm and 9pm at the Vaynol in Abersoch, or from 7am by the beach cafe on Abersoch Beach.
Can I wear headphones while I run at the Abersoch Half Marathon?
No, in accordance with UKA guidelines headphones are not permitted in open-road races.
