What you need to know

The 2017 Cholmondeley event attracted over 1500 competitors to the beautiful countryside of Cheshire, offering the quintessential Castle Triathlon Series experience of competitive and fun racing, an epic castle backdrop and a stunning rural location.

All races at the 200-year-old Cholmondeley Castle start by launching into an open-water swim in Deer Park Mere Lake, transitioning on to a bike route that circumnavigates Bickerton Hill, which is the southernmost tip of the Peckforton Hills. There will be one cycle lap for the Super Sprint and two laps for both the Sprint Plus and Olympic distances.

The run passes through the estate grounds, and has one lap for the Super Sprint and two laps for the Sprint Plus and Olympic races. Triathletes will finish their Cholmondeley race experience by sprinting down the main lawn to the finish line with Cholmondeley Castle as a fitting backdrop.

The Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon takes place in the beautiful grounds of Cholmondeley Castle, where the Cholmondeley family have resided since the Norman era of the 12th Century. The estate features extensive parkland covering 500 acres including two lakes, the larger of which, Deer Park Mere, is the setting for the open-water swim section of the triathlon.

To the south of Cholmondeley Castle, Tower Hill is the highest point of the run section, where athletes will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Beeston and Peckforton Hills, which they will have just covered on the undulating bike section, with the Welsh Hills looming in the distance.

The inaugural Bridport triathlon will be a pool based Triathlon hosted at Bridport leisure centre and will consist of 3 events, we have tried to think about all levels of entry, so if you have never entered a triathlon before and want to have a go, the super-sprint (try a tri) is an option, if you have done triathlons before or if you think you have the fitness to complete a slightly tougher triathlon the the sprint is your option, Don't like swimming then the Duathlon is your option.

And if you dont want to do all three portions of the triathlon then round up some friends and have a go at the team event (One person to do each element, so 3 different people in total).

More from Castle Triathlon Series

Hever Castle Triathlon has established itself as an essential destination for British and international triathletes and the mainstream media, for its picture postcard venue, elite action, age-group choice and festival atmosphere. Put simply, instant classic doesnt do the Hever Castle Triathlon justice.

The races commence with an open-water swim in the spectacular 38 acre Hever Castle Lake and River Eden, transitioning into the undulating cycle that takes athletes around a circuit through the High Weald of Kent, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and up to the stunning Ashdown forest for the longer distance races. The largely off-road run circumnavigates the estate and award-winning castle grounds before athletes make the dash to the tree-lined finishing chute beside the lake.
