Race and honor the US Marine Corp Dark Horse Battalion in these Memoral Day events. This scenic course is great for everyone who wants a hilly and challenging race. Come for a great day out in Laguna Hills and enjoy the post-race beer garden and all day DJs.

Come take part in the annual Laguna Hills Memorial Day races, including a half marathon, 10k, 5k and kids run. These races make their way up and around Orange County and are great for runners of all abilities to enjoy Memorial Day. This race day provides something for everyone.

Where is the start line?
Next to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center on Calle de Louisa

Where is the finish line?
Laguna Hills Community Center on Alicia Parkway

Half marathon
Start time: 7:00am

A point-to-point course through the Aliso and Wood Canyon Park, with several hilly and challenging sections. Park at the start line and get a shuttle back after you have finished or later in the day.

The first 3 miles are the same as the 10K and 5K courses. From Alicia Parkway, runners will continue to Aliso and Woods Canyon Park, then onto Aliso Creek Trail and finally back to the Laguna Hills Community Center.

There are water stations at the 1.5, 3.3, 5.3 6.2 (incl. electrolytes), 7.0, 8.7 (incl. electrolytes), 10.6 (incl. electrolytes), 12.3 (incl. electrolytes) mile points on the course.

Prams are not advised as there is a section of downhill packed dirt between miles 7 and 8.

10K
Start time: 7:00am

Runners head through Laguna Woods Village for 1.5 miles and then continue along Alicia Parkway. At Moulton Parkway, runners turn right and head out and back on the Aliso Creek Bike Trail, finishing at the Laguna Hills Community Center.

Park at the start line and get a shuttle back after you have finished or later in the day.

5K
Start time: 7:00am

Runners head through Laguna Woods Village for 1.5 miles and then finish at the Laguna Hills Community Center.

This race is also open to walkers.

Laguna Hills Kids Run
There are two kids races:
• Half mile race –for kids 4-12. Starts and finishes at Laguna Hills Community Center
• 50-Yard Diaper Dash – for kids 3 and under

7:00 am – Half Marathon, 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run/Walk Starts at Laguna Hills Mall
7:30 am – 11:30 am – One Day Family Expo at Laguna Hills Community Center
8:00 AM – Brew Ha Ha Beer Garden & Food Trucks Open
8:30 AM – Kids Registration Opens
8:30 AM – Shuttle Service back to the mall (start line) begins
8:45 AM – 5K Age Group Awards available for pick up
9:00 AM – 10K Age Group Awards available for pick up
9:00 AM – 5K/10K Overall Awards Given – Main Stage
9:15 AM – City of Laguna Hills and Team Dark Horse Ceremony and Special Presentation at the Main Stage
9:30 AM – Kids Races Begin (waves approximately 3-5 min apart)
10:00 AM – Half Marathon Age Group Awards available for pick up
10:15 AM – Half Marathon Overall Awards Given – Main Stage
11:30AM – Community Expo Closes, Beer Garden Closes

Travel

Parking & Directions
Half marathon, 10k and 5k runners must park at starting line allocated parking lots around Saddleback Memorial Medical Centre and Laguna Hills Mall.
A shuttle service from the finish line back to the start line will commence at 8:30am. Shuttle service concludes at 12pm.

Directions to start line
From I-5 North:
Exit El Toro Road and turn left Turn left on Avenida de La Carlota Follow signs and volunteers to parking
From I-5 and I-405 South: Exit El Toro Road Proceed straight through the first traffic light Follow signs and volunteers to parking
I-5 North and South: Exit Alicia Parkway and head west. Turn right on Paseo De Valencia for parking at the Laguna Hills High School and Laguna Hills Community Center and follow signs and volunteers to park. You may also park on Paseo De Valencia south of Alicia Parkway in designated areas.
Parking Info for Kids Run: Note Community Center Parking access closes from 6:30 until approximately 8:30 due to participants on the race course

Volunteers
We need more than 400 volunteers on the weekend prior to the event and of course on race day too!
We need volunteers at the start and finish lines and throughout the course.
FAQs

Can I pick up race packs for friends and family?

Yes, you can do so on Saturday or Sunday (but not on race day). Please bring appropriate ID.


Where do I leave personal belongings?

Personal belongings can be left at the bag drop at Laguna Hills Mall parking lot. Drop off closes strictly at 7:15am. Belongings can be collected from the finish line from 8:30am. There will be a limited number of bags available to put belongings in but we recommend that participants bring their own bags. Race organisers take no responsibility for lost or damaged items.
