This year Eroica California heads in new directions with a whole weekend of activities, right from the beach in Cambria. Like every year, Eroica Classic will be held on Sunday but this year we have big news: Saturday we will host NOVA Eroica California! Nova Eroica offers cyclists a chance to experience Eroica California on modern bicycles, in a group ride atmosphere with fun, timed segments. NOVA is open only to road and gravel bikes.

Course Details
LA VIA DELLO SCALATORE - 82 MILES

Previously known as the Coastal Route, La Via della Scalatore has all of the highlights that Eroica California is known for. Scalatore is Italian for climber and this route takes in all the major strade bianche ascents featured in the Heroic ride without the all the distance. Riders will have a nice warm up as they head south to the seaside village of Cayucos. After a brief stop, the strade bianche of Santa Rita Creek road awaits. Following the 10km climb and technical descent, riders will pass through the town of Templeton, in the heart of the Central Coast’s wine country, before encountering the infamous Kiler Canyon. This steep, narrow section of gravel road has forced even the most seasoned riders to succumb to walking. A well-deserved rest at Halter Ranch Vineyards can’t arrive soon enough. Don’t get too comfortable as the final obstacle of Cypress Mountain road is just around the corner. After conquering the steep, twisty climb, enjoy the 2000’ white-knuckle descent back to Cambria where riders can finally relax and enjoy the Eroica Festival, fine refreshments and coastal sunset.

Approximately 82 miles – 6400’ of climbing ~ 25 miles of gravel roads

HEROIC ROUTE - 110 MILES

The Heroic Route adds to the La Via della Scalatore by taking in several sections of strada bianche to the east of Templeton and through the city of Paso Robles. Enjoy stops at Olea Farms, renown for their olive oil and French fries, and Cass Winery, home of excellent wines and beautiful vineyards before rejoining the Scalatore route along Kiler Canyon in Paso Robles.

Approximately 110 miles – 8300’ of climbing ~ 30 miles of gravel roads
