The Frome Half Marathon 2019 will be held on the 21st July. All races start at the Frome Town Football Ground at 10:00 am and make their way through the streets of the town and surrounding countryside returning through the Town centre to the Frome Town football Ground for the finish line. What’s Included
  • Results: Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.
  • Medals: All finishers will receive a medal on completing the race.
  • Bag Drop: Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible, you can leave your belongings with us while you race using the tear-off baggage strip on your race number, collecting after you finish by presenting your race number.
  • Toilets: Portable toilets will be available at the race village.
  • Race Marshals: Marshals will be present on the course throughout the race.
  • Distance Markers: The route will be clearly indicated with arrows, tape and Km markers where necessary.
  • Water/Fuel Stations: There will be water stations on the route at regular intervals, at which water will be provided in recyclable plastic cups.
  • Goody Bag: All runners will receive a water and snacks on completing the race.
  • Refreshments: Refreshments will be available in the race village throughout the event.
  • Changing/Showers: There are no changing rooms or showers at this event.
  • Lost Property: Lost property from an event will be kept for one month. If unclaimed, or ownership cannot be determined, lost property items will be donated to charity.

The start/finish line is Frome Town Football Club, 48 Berkley Road, Frome. BA11 2EH.

Half Marathon:

The course is traffic-free, on closed roads and paths (with the exception of emergency responders and vehicles with specific permission). Beginning at Frome Town Football Club, the route proceeds around Frome itself before continuing south-west to Nunney and looping back through Whatley, Lower Whatley and Egford. Please be vigilant of vehicles, other runners, spectators, dogs, cyclists and other users of public footpaths and rights of way.

10K:

The course is traffic-free, on closed roads and paths (with the exception of emergency responders and vehicles with specific permission). Beginning at Frome Town Football Club, the route proceeds around Frome itself before returning back to the Football Club. Please be vigilant of vehicles, other runners, spectators, dogs, cyclists and other users of public footpaths and rights of way.

5K:

The course is traffic-free, on closed roads and paths (with the exception of emergency responders and vehicles with specific permission). Beginning at Frome Town Football Club, the route proceeds around Frome itself before returning back to the Football Club. Please be vigilant of vehicles, other runners, spectators, dogs, cyclists and other users of public footpaths and rights of way.


Junior 1K:

The course is traffic-free, on closed roads and paths (with the exception of emergency responders and vehicles with specific permission). The route is a 1K out and back, returning to the start at Frome Town Football Club.
Raceday Logistics
Please follow signs to the race start which is behind the spectator stand to the east of the football pitch. The race starts at 10am so please be in place in plenty of time. All three races start at the same time from the same place.

Note: The race start is not divided into race pens as this is too complicated with three events starting at the same time. Please line up on the start line according to your ability, if you expect to be competitive in your race head to the front so you don’t get held up on the start line, if this is your first event please start a little further back.

8:30 - 9:15 am - Registration/Packet Pickup

9:45 am - Junior Race START

10:00 am - 5K/10K/Half Marathon START

Travel
The Race Village will be located at Frome Town Football Ground, Badgers Hill, Frome. BA11 2EH, about 30 minutes south of Bath along the A36. The X67 bus will also take you close to the event.

Limited free car parking will be available at Frome Cricket Club, 30 Rodden Road, Frome. BA11 2AH. Race day parking will be open from 08.00 to 13.30. Please follow parking attendant instructions to facilitate the utilisation of maximum capacity for other runners and ensure you collect your car by 1.30pm when the site will be locked.
Spectators
Frome residents and visitors will be out on the course in almost all sections of the route. If you have friends or family coming to support you, they can watch from anywhere and make use of shortcuts to see you in more than one place. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants along the route.

    Very good race, really friendly atmosphere among the runners and supporters. Incredible route out in the country side, very different to most half marathons that are organised in cities. Very hilly course, so not a quick run but still very enjoyable if taking it at a slower pace.

    Very hot.. very well organised... the locals where awesome too... hosepipes and water was a plenty all around the course.Thank you Frome you did yourselves proud... who knows might even do the Half Marathon next year!!Thank you

    Considering the weather, the community of Frome were a bunch of stars, showering us with water and sweets. On top of the great marshals and all volunteers, a big thank you for looking after us.Great route also
