Take the chance to become historic. The city of Gothenburg turns 400 years and you have the chance to run the Göteborgsvarvet Marathon; it's a once in a lifetime event! The race course is beautiful and while running you´ll experience the central parts of Gothenburg, the beautiful parks and the waterfront.

We welcome to the start line in Sweden on September 19th 2021.

Goteborgsvarvet Marathon route

The start and finish is in the heart of Gothenburg at the old athletics arena Slottsskogsvallen in Slottskogen park. The course goes southwards to a turning point at the sea and returns the same way. The half marathoners run one lap, while the marathon race consists of two. The course is relatively flat, but winds along the sea can be significant.

Göteborgsvarvet Marathon starts at 10.00 am on September 19th 2021. So you have plenty of time to prepare.

FAQs

Age limit

According to the Swedish Athletic Association the minimum age for participation in a marathon is 17 years. We accept registrations from runners born 2004 and earlier to Göteborgsvarvet Marathon. Runners under 18 years old at the time of registration need to have the permission of their legal guardian.

We celebrate Gothenburg 400 years

We will celebrate Gothenburg in many different ways all the way to 2021, and this will be one of the highlights of our festivities, that really can contribute in making an international impression.
