A challenging course for those looking to test themselves with a few uphill climbs and some cross country sections with a bit of mud. The perfect test for those looking to try a course that offers some fair challenges, but keeps a fun atmosphere.

The course was terrible - 4 times round a muddy and slippery Rothamsted Park with a tedious little double-back on each circuit to make up the mileage. Parts of the course involved peculiar little dog legs through markers which many/most people ignored. Not good. Registration and finishing arrangements were functional but OK. However, the organisers were very lucky it wasn't raining as there was no overhead cover provided at all. If it had been wet all the runners would have got soaked to the skin while waiting and after finishing. Atmosphere among the runners was friendly and supportive, as always at these events, but because the admin arrangements it wasn't a great, memorable or particularly interesting or enjoyable event. I don't think I'll bother again next year.

Chaotic organimation of the route. Poor communication. Course in parts was ankle deep in mud. The hills were a good challenge.
  • Did the 10k in 2019

I know many runners who dislike courses which have more than one lap. This course had four. After three laps, the marshals moved some of the route gates because it was so muddy. Not sure why they waited this long as it was muddy from the start. Warm up was late, race start was late. Marshals were encouraging and helpful but the course layout was not particularly well explained.

A challenging race. The advert needs to be clearer that this is a X country race. The start was delayed in cold conditions which was not helpful. There was also a point where there were runners coming from 3 directions with no marshal.
  • Did the 10k in 2019

Poorly organised. Boring 4 laps of a park. A number of people marshalled incorrectly so that the run only equates to 5.7 miles.
  • Did the 10k in 2018

Unfortunately, this was a very poorly organised event. There seemed to be very little in the way of information ont he day, and the marshalling towards the start/finish and one other area near the football pitches was chaoctic leaving lots of people cutting corners after lap one (which is probably why most strava tracks for this are so short of the 10k) The bag drop was not secure, and trying to find your own bag in a heap of bags was with no labels was not good. The course was a mud bath, I don't remember this being advertised as a XC race? Not chipped timed, but not advertised as being (just a shame it wasn't). The online results are incomplete (my result is not on the website).Sorry for all the negative feedback, but overall this was not an enjoyable event to be a part of.

The race was fun, but I hadn't realised it was mostly off road, rather than on pavements. So quite muddy. And the organiser arrived 5 minutes after we were supposed to start. But for a first iteration of the event, not too bad. But when will the results be posted?
