Fast, flat, fantastic! Choice of half marathon, 10k, 5k. Set in the beautiful Cherwell Valley countryside, the three routes all utilise the Heyford Park Airbase's Runway, RAF Taxiway & NATO Taxiway and are therefore pancake flat and traffic-free. These races are timed perfectly if you are planning to run a Spring marathon, but equally good for those venturing into racing, moving up a distance or just trying to improve times.

Directions

The event is held at Heyford Park, Upper Heyford, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX25 5HD. From the M40 this is approximately 9 miles from Junction 9, and 4 miles from Junction 10. You will pick up signs to the race once you have reached the village of Upper Heyford. Please be aware that we will not be using the main entrance to Heyford Park, so follow signs until you reach the Race Car Park entrance.

Parking

You will need to display a car pass in order to gain access to the Airbase which will be emailed to you prior to race day. Please ensure that any spectators arriving in separate cars also print a copy. Follow the Race Car Park signs and park only where directed. Do not drive anywhere else on the base and please remember that this is a restricted access location and certain areas available only to us... and only for the race!

Kit List

For safety reasons, it is suggested that you run without music so you can stay alert and aware of your surroundings and other runners. This way you can also soak up the energy and atmosphere and unplug!

For racing we recommend you wear your normal running kit and trainers and don't forget to keep an eye on the weather in case you require any waterproofs.

Nice flat fast course great for my first 10k
  • Did the 5k in 2018

It was exactly as advertised, flat and fast
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

It's hot, very little shade, nice and flat, so bring sun cream.Bring music if your running alone as the 2nd lap once the 10 and 5k have finished it's quite lonely. It's was my 1st 1/2 marathon.
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

A very well organised race, only issue is that it can get a little lonely out running, the support at the start and finish was superb, the marshals along the course were awesome, and kept you motivated.
