THE COURSE

  • There are several route options in the area which visit both sides of the valley.
  • Regarding the trails, there is something for everyone as they vary from pine woods to rocky exposed routes.
  • You will be running for approximately 6hrs a day including a stop for lunch.
  • As it will be a full day running, the guides will be able to explore some of the higher trails of the Chamonix valley, meaning you will see the valley at its best, including stunning views of Mt Blanc and the Aiguilles
  • You will also receive guidance on trail techniques that will make you a more proficient trail runner.

  • Overnight accommodation for 2 nights in a standard single room at Hôtel Le Refuge des Aiglons in Chamonix
  • Hot buffet breakfast at the hotel on both days
  • Evening meal on the first night at a highly rated restaurant in Chamonix (from set menu)

  • 2 Days of guided trail running, led by a qualified Lead Runner, with you every step of the way

  • You will arrive on Friday afternoon/ evening at the accommodation.
  • Departure will be on the Sunday afternoon in time for Sunday evening flights (full details in your booking pack).

CLOTHES:

  • Lightweight waterproof jacket (preferably Goretex / Event – must have sealed seams)
  • Lightweight waterproof trousers
  • Wicking top and shorts / leggings
  • Sun hat / cap
  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Base layer / fleece top
  • Socks (eg: Injinji)
  • Trail running shoes (sufficient tread)


ACCESSORIES:

  • Fully Charged Mobile Phone
  • Lightweight, comfortable running pack (5-12 litres ideal)
  • Water Bottles / Bladder with minimum of 1 litre capacity
  • Sunglasses
  • Snacks to sustain you for the planned route
  • Emergency cash
  • Waterproof bags / dry bags to keep stuff dry
  • Personal first aid kit (eg: blister packs, sunscreen, inhaler etc)

How many miles does the Intermediate Alps course include?
The trail is approximately 20 miles, meaning participants will cover a half marathon across two days.
Do I need to purchase a lift pass for the Intermediate Alps course?
If you wish to take the lifts at any point during your stay you will need to purchase a lift pass as these are not included in your ticket.
When should I arrive in Chamonix for the Intermediate Alps course?
Participants should arrive at the accommodation on Friday afternoon or evening.
Do I need to be an expert runner to take part in the Intermediate Alps trip?
No you do not need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable spending most of the day out on the trails. You are encouraged to take part in the Introduction to Alps course prior to signing up to this if you believe you are a beginner.
