Pescara, a modern city with an ancient history, welcomes athletes and their families from all over the world, to the eighth edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Italy.
An unmissable event where the city centre turns into the perfect venue for a great sporting weekend. Pescara is also home to incredible sites such as the old town of "Pescara Vecchia", the "bridge of the sea" from which you can admire the Apennines from Gran Sasso to Majella, the long beach, ideal for family holidays and a vast array of pubs and restaurants where you can experience "Pescara by night".
The athletes will start their adventure with the 1.9 km swim in the Adriatic Sea, followed by a run through the transition area leading to the start of the 90km bike. Here they will tackle a technical but fascinating course which incorporates the Apennines slopes in the province of Pescara where, enclosed between the mountains and the sea, a journey through history begins, as you discover the roots of the region. Finally the half marathon through the city centre takes athletes past some of the city's most iconic sites before arriving at the finish line right by the sea.
The IRONMAN 70.3 Italy weekend is characterised by the unique atmosphere that you will experience from Friday, where the NIGHT RUN, a beautiful 10km non-competitive run race, is now a must for 600 enthusiastic participants. On Saturday the day belongs to the youth as just like the IRONMAN heroes, children between 5 and 15, get to experience the thrill of the big event with IRONKIDS.
Pescara is waiting for you!
There will be 50 qualifying slots available for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.
