This point-to-point 50 mile Ultra race will have you traversing the stunning Lake District starting at Caldbeck to the end in Cartmel. You will follow the stunning Helvellyn Ridge and western shoreline of Lake Windermere. It will definitely be a pretty tough course so make sure you conserve your energy as there will be plenty of hills throughout.

Coach transfer
The coach leaves Cartmel at 5:45am prompt. The coach must be booked as an extra at the cost of £10, this must be done by the 10th of September.
Camping
Camping is available on Friday night at Cartmel Racecourse, Cartmel LA11 6QF for £10 and Saturday for those who finish late or have a long journey home after the race. Camping is only available for tents and short wheelbase campers (e.g. T4 or T5. It is not suitable for large campervans or motorhomes. vehicles longer the 5m are not permitted.
Parking
If you are bringing a vehicle with you to Caldbeck please make sure to park sensibly. There will not be a coach transfer service back to Caldbeck on Saturday.
Public transport
The closest Railways Stations are Cark and Grange over Sands which are located only 3 miles from Cartmel. A taxi will be around £15 to the start. It is advised to book a taxi in advance as they are small railway stations.

Registration
Pre-registration will be open at Cartmel the day before the event. On the day of the event, there will not be any registration at Cartmel. Registration on event day will be available at Caldbeck Parish Hall.
If you cannot make pre-registration, please email info@durtyevents.comExternalLink to let the organiser know in advance so they can have your pack and tracker ready at Caldbeck Parish Hall.
Event start
The race will start outside the Oddfellows Arms in Caldbeck which is located 500m from the registration area of Caldbeck Parish Hall.
Cut-offs You must have left the feed stations by the following times:

  • Grisedale Hause – 17:30
  • Ambleside – 22:30
  • Finsthwaite – 03:30
  • Finish Cartmel – 08:00

£500 for the 1st lady and 1st man to set a new course record, if it is not claimed it is rolled over to the following year.
FAQs
What kit do I need for the Lakes in a Day
You must have the following with you throughout the race: Waterproof jacket with a hood, waterproof trousers, insulated layer (fleece/lightweight duvet jacket), long-sleeve top, hat and gloves, map (provided), mug: at least 200ml, compass (not a phone or watch version), Bivy Bag, mobile phone, whistle, money (not just a credit card), facemask (buff not allowed).

When can I arrive at the campsite for the Lakes in a Day?
The campsite will be open from 6pm on Friday night. Please do no arrive before this time.

Can I wear headphones at the Lakes in a Day?
Yes, you can use headphones but please do not wear noise cancelling headphones. We would recommend the use of bone conductor headphones to keep your ears free for hearing any instructions that marshals may have. If you are using earbuds please keep your music to a low level so instructions can be heard over and above your music.
