The Ventura Marathon is back for another year. Famous for its fast and scenic course, this point-to-point marathon includes ample amounts of downhill and runners are rewarded with Belgian waffles and beer at the finish line.

The course winds along the paved paths of the Ojai Valley Trail and Ventura River Trail bringing runners toward the coast and one of Southern California's most popular surf destinations. Qualify for Boston or run a new PR and spend a weekend in beautiful Ventura.

For those not up for the marathon, there are also options to run a half marathon, 5k or simply a downtown mile. And there is also a kids mile - so fun for all the family!

    Course:

  • Time limit:

    The course has a six-hour time limit. Runners are allowed to start prior to the start time, but must be aware that directional signs and aid stations may not be in place.

    Pace Groups:

    Pace groups will be 5 minutes faster than Boston Qualifying marks

    Half Marathon

    Course:

    Half the distance of the marathon, but just as fast and beautiful. This one starts just south of Ojai and then winds down into Ventura on the same course as the marathon.

    Race Start Location: Loma Drive just North of Valley Oak Charter School at 901 El Centro St in Ojai, CA 93023.

    Race Finish Location: Mission Park, 185 E Santa Clara St, Ventura, CA 93001

    5K

    Course:

    A different course the the marathon/ half marathon, this race is all about soak up downtown Ventura. The course features two loops that run along Main Street past the restaurants, shops and nightlife of downtown Ventura. Finish right at Mission Park and enjoy all the perks of the finish festival.

    Downtown Mile Details

    Course:

    How fast can you run a mile?! The Ventura Downtown Mile runs point-to-point right down Main Street in Downtown Ventura. The course runs downhill into the finish line - perfect for a new mile personal best! After you break the finish line tape, head into Mission Park to take advantage of all of the finisher perks.

    Elite runners are welcome! Prize money is on offer for the top male and female finishers as well as a large purse for anyone who can take down the world record.

    Awards:

    1 Mile awards will take place around 10:00 AM. 1 Mile awards will be provided to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female overall finishers.

  • World Record Male (3:43.13): $5000
  • World Record Female (4:12.56): $5000
  • Kid's Mile

    The Kid's Mile will take place on the same course as the Downtown Mile and also features chip timing. Parents are welcome to run alongside their kids or cheer for them at the start/finish line.

    Raceday Logistics

    Race Day packet pick up

    This is at the start line for each distance.

    Runners are encouraged to pick up their packets on Saturday if possible.

    If you’re picking up on Sunday, leave plenty of time to park and check-in. It’s recommended to arrive at the venue one hour prior to your start time.

    Travel

    Parking

    Event parking is available at the Ventura County Fairgrounds ($5 cash) and through downtown Ventura. There is free parking available in the surrounding areas, but you may need to spend extra time looking for spots.

    It is a .4 mile walk from the Fairgrounds to Mission Park, where the 5K will start and all races will finish. Shuttles to the Marathon and Half Marathon start lines will be picking up runners from the Fairgrounds


    Marathon & Half Marathon Shuttle from Ventura

    Runners will park and board a free shuttle to the start line from the Fairgrounds on Harbor Blvd. just west of Shoreline Dr.


    Spectators

    This is an awesome event for spectators, not least for the Beer garden, live music and local attractions.

    Beer garden is open 08:00 - 18:00 Saturday and 07:00 - 15:00 Sunday.

    The Ventura Marathon could not happen without the amazing team of volunteers.

    FAQs

    Can I change my race distance? If you have signed up for a race but would like to change your distance, you can easily do that. Just locate your confirmation email and follow the instructions.

    Are strollers allowed? Strollers are allowed at all LaceUp events.

    Will there be pacers? Yes, there will be pacers for each half marathon and marathon. Please refer to each race location for pacing times.

    Where can I get my results? Results will be available at the Lexus space in the Health and Fitness expo area and on laceuprunningseries.com after the race.

    Will there be aid stations on course? There will be aid stations approximately every two miles on each course and at the finish line. Aid stations will be stocked with Nuun and Honey Stinger product. Find info on the Ventura Marathon, HERE.

    What is the time limit on the course? There is a four-hour time limit on the Half Marathon courses. Participants need to maintain a 18:20 minute/mile pace. Ventura marathon time limit is six hours.

    Can I pick up my packet on race day? It’s highly recommended that athletes stop by the pre-race packet pick up, but packet pick up will be available on race day. Come early, because packet pick up will close 30 minutes before each race.

    What if I cannot finish the race? If you cannot complete the course there will be a vehicle available to bring you back to the finish line, so you can enjoy the Health and Fitness Expo and post-race brunch.

    Where can I check my gear during the event? There is a secure Gear Check available for all participants. You can drop off your items before the race and pick them up after the event.
