    Travel

    Getting There

We highly recommend taking public transport to arrive at the event if you can! The normal rules apply. Make sure you plan your route well in advance and check the Transport for London website for any planned engineering works which may affect your journey. The event hub will be in Waterloo Place which is well placed to get to with good transport links and multiple Underground stations nearby. We will recommend which stations are the most convenient and best ones to head to in the information we share nearer to Event Day!

    Volunteers

We need enthusiastic, proactive, and practical individuals who are prepared to be placed in a variety of roles at the event. If you want to be part of the epic central London sporting event and do so whilst helping many charities raise millions of pounds, then this is the role for you!

    • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

Well-organised race, with great atmosphere, support and entertainment all along the route, which (as the name implies!) goes past Londons key landmarks ... not that I had time to admire them as I puffed and painted past! Starts in Pall Mall and finishes by Downing Street. Did this, as a Londoner, as my first ever half-marathon. All in all, very pleased with it.
    • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

I thought the event was well organised in advance and on the day. Although, I am not sure what happened with start times/starting in the right wave as this seemed very prescriptive pre-event but didn't seem to be put into practice on the day. The course was generally good although the section in the middle around St. Pauls/The City did double back a huge amount which made the run seem long and repetitive in that section - it would be good to spread the route out a bit further - perhaps over to London Bridge and The Shard etc. All in all though - great event, great atmosphere and great volunteers and supporters.

The atmosphere around the route was fantastic with loads of music all along the route, lots of charity cheer stations and lots of spectators. The starting area was slightly confusing, I thought I has missed my wave and then ended up in an earlier wave so timings and directions could have been a bit clearer but the rest of the race, bag drop and finish was well organised.
