Route information
Compete in this cross-country (literally) event that spans the English and Welsh borders in the beautiful Wye Valley.
Challenge Run:
Find yourself flowing faster than the river you run beside in this 12.5k off-road race. The first 6k follows the Wye Valley Walk pathway where you will be running through the English countryside, first on grass then through leafy woodland, before entering the Biblins Campsite. Runners will then cross over the Biblins Suspension Bridge (please no running on the bridge) back into Wales, be able to greet the awesome volunteers and get hydrated at the water station, before setting off back to the finish line. The second half of the race will be along the hard-packed gravel of the Peregrine Way cycle, before ending along Hadnock Road to the cheers of your fans as you cruise through the finish line.
Aquathlons:
For our more hydrophilic friends, this event offers two aquathlon challenges. If you are participating in an aquathlon for the first time, or prefer a more leisurely swim, the Downstream Challenge is a great way to dip your toes into the Aquathlon event. For those looking to flex their flippers, why not take on the Full Aquathlon Challenge, which boasts a 2k swim both upstream and downstream. Compete the whole route solo, or take it on as a 2-person relay team.
Downstream Challenge:
The Downstream Challenge will be a 1k swim all downstream starting at St Peters Church Dixton. Once swimmers have reached the Rowing Club, they will enter the transition area before setting off along the 12.5k run route outlined above.
Full Aquathlon Challenge:
The Full Aquathlon Challenge will also start at St Peters Church, where swimmers will stroke 0.5k upstream before turning around and streaming 1.5k back downstream. At the Rowing Club, they will enter the transition area before setting off along the 12.5k run route outlined above.
The River Wye in July is warm enough to swim in without a wetsuit so wetsuits are optional. Please keep in mind that the walk from the race briefing to the start is 1.2k, so please wear suitable footwear and clothing for this.
