What you need to know

Through the Great Central Walk disused railway and the closed town and country roads of Britain's railway centre, this is the half marathon you can't afford to miss.

With a fun 1k run for the family too, this is your perfect end-of-half-term day out before all the Hallowe'en and fireworks fun.

Starting at Hart field, you'll quickly find yourself out on to clear country roads and flying round to return to the town centre on 'a linear nature reserve' - the old railway line that is now a recognised wildlife hotspot.

Of course, all this also means a new, exclusive medal and course records in each male and female category up for grabs, as well as a free t-shirt for all entrants!

Be there from year one to help this event become a major fixture in the race calendar - we'd love to see you there.

Travel

Travel

Trains:

Trains do arrive into Rugby on some lines early enough on race day for runners to get to the race in time for the start. Runners should check travel times thoroughly before travel to the race by train.

Buses:

Some route numbers will be on diversion between 9am – 1.30pm to avoid the race route. Please check your local bus stop or the Stagecoach website for details of the closest stops to make your journey.

Cars and Bicycles:

Road closures apply to those traveling to and from the race. Please ensure you arrive early enough to reach the car parks and be prepared to wait or take a diverted route if you are leaving the town before all roads are re-opened.

Walking:

All roads are open to pedestrians. Crossing may be restricted at points to ensure safety for all runners and spectators. Race marshals can offer assistance in crossing roads safely. If you need to cross a road during the race where there is not a marshal, please do so with great care and do not obstruct any runners.

Parking

Free race day parking is provided at Rugby Town Football Club, Butlin Road, Rugby. CV21 3SD. The car park will open at 7.30am and close at 1.30pm. It is a ten-minute walk to Hart Field.

On-street parking is not advised on the race route, where roads will be kept as clear of parked vehicles as possible. On-street parking on nearby roads will likely have restricted access when the race is in progress making it difficult to leave before all roads are reopened.

FAQs

At the race

Toilets, bag drop and catering trucks will be at Hart Field. Once you have collected your race pack, attach your number to the front of the shirt you will run in with safety pins provided, and use the tear of strip on your race number to attach to any belongings you want to leave in the bag drop. Toilets and catering will be available on Hart Field throughout and after the race until 12pm. There are no dedicated changing facilities at Hart Field, so please arrive ready to run wherever possible. The family fun run starts at 9.45am, shortly before the main race and stays within Hart Field. Medals are awarded to all fun run finishers!

After the race

Collect your medal and finishers’ goody bag as soon as you’ve crossed the finish line. You’ll be able to take a print out of your chip timed race result from the race timing gazebo. Prizes will be awarded on race day wherever possible. Full results will be sent to all finishers later on race day with a link to view photographs from the course and finish line.

Road Closures and Alternative Routes for Traffic

Roads that are closed on or close to the race route will only be closed for the minimum amount of time. Our timing estimates shown on the road closure map are intended as maximum closure times – roads will not be closed any earlier than the stated closing time, but may open earlier than re-opening time.

Whilst we appreciate frustration for drivers, we do all we can to provide advance notice of closures and to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.  On race day, our marshals and road safety officers will provide current, accurate information to the best of their knowledge regarding timings and alternative routes. It is hoped that the benefit to the town and all those running or spectating is far greater than the disruption of temporary road closures. If you are not able to travel by road for a short period during the race, please be patient. Abusive or intimidating behaviour towards staff and volunteers will be reported to the police. For details on roads that are closed or popular routes that are affected, see our schedule of road closures and our maps of recommended alternative routes.

The organising team would like to wish you best of luck and promise that we will do everything we can to make this race the most enjoyable one you have entered this year.

If you only enter one half marathon this year, make it the Manchester Half Marathon.

One of the flattest and fastest around. The only 41m of elevation gain and a 2 mile + finishing straight, we expect to see some very fast times here.

Great entertainment, outstanding crowd support and glorious finish at Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire Cricket Club, plus a medal and a technical t-shirt for all finishers!

To give you an idea of how fast this course is, 74% of the first 50 finishers ran a personal best or a season best. 56% of the top 250 ran a PB or SB. This is your half marathon to literally smash it!

The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a brand new, closed road, central London run. It is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster and the first event will take place on the 23 March 2019.

The event is not your average half marathon! From cultural landmarks and heritage to the city's quirky and hidden secrets, runners will get to explore the capital on a route like no other!

10,000 runners will start on Pall Mall, finish by Downing Street and have fabulous views of Londons most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Pauls Cathedral, Nelsons Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye.

The event will also deliver a pan-London community engagement programme and involve London wide schools, boroughs, community groups, cultural organisations, sports clubs and businesses in developing the event and on the day.

The event is owned by baby charity, Tommy's who came up with the idea in 2014. Tommy's are delighted to be launching this exciting new event with the support of Westminster City Council and the City of London Corporation.
