BY CAR: Allow 1 hour from Melbourne on the Calder Freeway. Stay on the freeway past both the Macedon and Woodend turn-offs. You will see a sign with a picture of Hanging Rock that indicates turn-off is 5km further on. You must take the ‘Woodend, Lancefield and Romsey’ turn-off from the Calder Freeway.

CAR PARKING: The car park will open from 7.00am. The only point of entry to Hanging Rock Racecourse is off South Rock Road. Once you enter Hanging Rock Reserve, please follow the directions from our marshals. Please allow enough time to park and walk to the event site.

PRE PURCHASE A RETURN BUS TICKET: Jump on-board our 48-seater return bus from Richmond Railway Station to the Event Village at Hanging Rock, and let us take care of the rest. $30 per person. Limited spots available.


6:15am – Depart Richmond Station

7:30am – 7:45am – Arrive at Run the Rock

12:15pm – 12:30pm – Depart Run the Rock

1:45pm – 2:00pm – Arrive Richmond Station

Kit List

Runners – comfortable running gear and shoes suited to running. Participants should be aware that some fabrics can induce chafing, which can become quite severe, especially for those in the 22K. It is advisable that you wear clothing that you have trained in and are confident that you will be able to cover the distance comfortably in.


What date and time is the event?

Run the Rock 2019 is on Saturday, 30 March 2019.

8:15am – 22K Half Marathon

9:10am – 2K

9:25am – 13.5K

10:15am – 5K

Where is the Event Village located?

The Run the Rock Event Village is located at Hanging Rock Racecourse.

When do online registrations open and close?

Online registrations open on Saturday, 22 December 2019 and close 11:59pm Thursday, 28 March 2019.

Entries will be taken on the day of the event from the Event Village (Hanging Rock Racecourse) from 7:15am.

I have a toddler – do I have to pay for them?

Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons we do still require an entry form to be completed.

My child is running the 2K Kids run – can I run with them?

Yes, guardians of a child participating in the 2K event may run with them for free.

I can’t find or never received my confirmation email – can I have it resent?

Please ensure you have checked your junk/spam folder for your confirmation email (e-ticket). If you can still not locate it, please email [email protected] and request to have your confirmation email resent.

Can a friend take my entry if I can no longer run?

Yes, please email us at [email protected] with your request. There is a $10 admin fee to transfer your entry into someone else’s name.

Can I have my name on my bib?

Yes, all participants who enter before 11:59pm Tuesday, 12 March 2019 will have a name on their bib.

What happens if I’ve received my Race Pack and decide not to participate?

You don’t have to notify the organisers if you are unable to run for any reason. Under no circumstances may you transfer or give your race bib or timing tag to another person to use.

Race Pack Collection

If you selected Race Pack collection during the registration process and entered before 11:59pm Tuesday, 19 March 2019 you can collect your Race Pack from the following times and locations:

Sole Motive Store (170 Queen St, Melbourne) from noon on Thursday, 21 March 2019 until 5:00pm Thursday, 28 March 2019.

Event Village (Hanging Rock Racecourse) on Saturday, 30 March 2019 (event day) from 7:15am.

If you registered after 11:59pm Tuesday, 19 March 2019 you can only collect your Race Pack from the Event Village (Hanging Rock Racecourse) on Saturday 30 March 2019 (event day) from 7:15am.

Are the courses wheelchair and pram friendly?

Unfortunately, due to the offroad nature of all distances, it is not wheelchair friendly. All-terrain prams may be used but please be aware of the uneven ground and narrow paths at times.

What happens if it is raining the day of the event?

The event will generally go ahead rain or shine. In case of extreme weather the organisers will decide if it is safe for the event to continue.

Please note: If the event is cancelled, entries are non-refundable.
