Come out with your friends and family and start your July 4th with a run, walk, or stroll to the Beach.

The finish is on the Beach at the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area featuring a great beach for swimming! Tahoe Vista and North Lake Tahoe are great places to spend your July 4th weekend. Fireworks are scheduled for the evening of July 3rd!

What’s Included

Included in your race fee will be a free digital photo of you during the race, assistance if required from on-site medical staff, and some swag from the organizer, Big Blue Adventure.

Cold beverages and recovery food (i.e. beer, fruit, and bagels) will be provided at the finish.

There will also be some post-event festivities, including music, a raffle, and awards.

Course Details

Run, walk or stroll the 5K or 10K course. Starting at the North Tahoe Regional Park the courses offer scenic and fun trails. The 5K is a quick course and the 10K has a signature climb.

Raceday Logistics

NOTE: It is also possible to check-in for the race the day prior (July 3) between 7:00 and 8:00 am at the Big Blue Adventure headquarters located at 210 Grove St, Tahoe City.

7:00 - 8:00 am: Check-in/Registration

8:30 am: Race Start

8:50 am: First Finisher

10:00 am: Awards

Travel

Parking will be available for a small fee at the North Tahoe Regional Park. After the race, you can walk back to your car, which will be less than a mile away.

Volunteers

Volunteering is a great way to support your racing habit. All volunteers (17yrs & older) earn $10/hr of racing credit that can be applied to any ASW event or Big Blue Adventure event. After you volunteer at an event, you will receive an email including your unique volunteer code. This code will allow you to apply your credits earned when you register for your next race online.

If you are part of a club or group, we have a special partnership program which includes special discounts, free race entries, and depending on the type of organization, financial donations.

Awards

  • Age Group/Gender, 10-year (19 & under, 20-29, etc.) based on age as of 12/31 in the race year.
  • If there are over 200 sign ups in a race than age categories shift to 5 year increments

Race Cut Off:

The final cut off time for the race is 8hrs. (15+ min per mile pace).

There will be intermediate cut-offs along the course.

Are dogs allowed on the course?

Currently we don’t offer a run/race where dogs are allowed

Are dogs allowed at the race venue?

Yes and no. It depends on the “dog” rules at the venue. For example the California State Park venues…no dogs. So shoot us an email ahead of time to make sure its OK.

Are walkers allowed?

Yes, walkers are welcomed at each set of races except for the marathon distance.

Is there an age minimum?

There is no age minimum, however if you are under then a parent or guardian need to sign a waiver for you to compete in the Trail Running Races.

Howe often are the water stops supplied?

This depends somewhat on the race but in general we have water stops every couple of miles.

5Ks – at least one

10Ks – at least two

1/2 Marathon – at least three

Marathon – at least four

How should I prepare for racing at elevation?

There is a large amount of information and debate on the subject of altitude affecting athletic performance. Here are some helpful links regarding various techniques and discussion on the impact of elevation.

What are the age groups?

Ages are grouped by gender in 5-year increments (women 16-20. men 30-35, etc.)

What is cut-off time for the trail running races?

There is no cut off time. You can walk the race if you’d prefer, whatever you’d like to do to have your own Big Blue Adventure. Please inform us ahead of time if you are going to walk the event, it will help us keep track of you.
