Route information
Set at Salcombe's North Sands, the Salcombe Gin Sprint Triathlon promises to be an epic event. Swim 700m, cycle 19k and complete a 3k trail run to put your endurance to the test.
You can expect a fun, social environment and welcoming atmosphere as you race. Beginning with a swim in the North Sands bay, the cycle route will then take you through the villages of Salcombe, Hope and Galmpton, with views of the South Hams countryside. The route will include some sharp inclines and rolling downhill sections, with a steep climb up into Marlborough before you finish this section of the course. You'll finish with a trail run to Lower Collaton and back to North Sands.
700m Sea Swim
The swim route will start in the sheltered cove on Norths Sands Beach close to the mouth of the estuary. Participants will swim around large floating buoys.
19k Cycle
Terrain: Open roads
Elevation: 400m
This challenging cycle will be along the open roads to South Milton and back along the South Hams beautiful lanes. There'll be plenty of time in and out of the saddle as participants tackle undulating hills totalling 400m elevation gain.
3k Run
Terrain: Trail
Elevation: 90m
The run route will take to the Salcombe tracks and trails. The route starts by heading towards the inner valley along the track and down towards the beautiful Hangar Mill.
