Volunteers

The On The Edge Events event day volunteers are known as OTEE Crew. Our awesome OTEE Crew add so much to the woohoo-ing, high five-ing spirit at our events! OTEE Crew help make these races possible and allow our trail runners to compete in a fun, safe and organised way.

Why join the OTEE Crew?

It's a great way to be part of the awesomeness, without getting too sweaty.

People help out for a number of reasons:

* To check out what OTEE is all about.

* A great way to stay involved, when injury prevents you from participating in the event.

* Friends, family and/or partners like to share in th fun, creating a great social event.

What OTEE Crew get:

* Behind the scenes into our events.

* A free entry into a future event in the any of our Series.

* Heaps of high fives and thank you's from the competitors, along with endless love and gratitude from the organisers

* The opportunity to hang out with the coolest community on the trails.

What roles will I have?

A variety of things, including but not limited too.

* Flagging Course - have a bit of a trot before the event, placing all important course markers.

* Sweeping - Lets you have a bit of trot, following behind the last competitors

* Course Marshals - Help direct racers on the course

* Parking - Directing cars into spaces, and sometime manning entry gates

* Rego - Be the face that greets the competitors, checking them in and hand out event bibs

* Aid Stations - Prepare food and assisting runners to refuel along the course if required

* Timing - Giving woohoos as competitors cross the line, and ensuring those all important finish times are recorded

How do I sign up?

If you're ready to join the OTEE Crew, please send an email to [email protected] We will add you to our list, letting us know if you are volunteering for the Trail Running or the Mountain Biking. If you have a particular event you would like to volunteer for, please let us know in the email as well.

FAQs

Course Markings

You will not need a map for this run, the entire course will be marked with Orange Ribbon tied to the trees and bushes. There will also be arrows, signs, and crosses in the middle of incorrect trails to help keep you from staying off course. Marshals wearing fluro vests are also in place at critical junctions to ensure you are kept on course.

Aid Stations

There will be a water fill up point at the turn around on the long course. Scenic Rim Trail Running Series runs a NO CUP policy on the course and all runners are advised to carry fluids and a 500ml bottle or container to fill up with water at the aid station.

Finish Line Aid

There will be a full recovery station at the end of the race with cups available. This includes fruit, Trail Brew nutrition and water. If you require anything else outside these items – please provide it for yourself.

First Aid

We will have a fully qualified professional paramedic available at the start/finish line if required. Insurance On The Edge Events carries its own public liability insurance. However we do not provide any insurance to cover runners for accident and injury nor ambulance services. We strongly recommend that all runners carry their own insurance to cover these for personal risks.

Race Rules

Juniors only (under 18 on race day) – must have their parent or guardian advise the organisers, On The Edge Events, of their intention to enter and the parent or guardian must read and sign an authorisation and indemnity. You will not be permitted on course otherwise. Juniors only (under 10 years on race day) must be accompanied by an adult during the race. Your parent or guardian must read and sign an authorization and indemnity.

Competitors must follow the complete course as marked and directed. Taking shortcuts or using any unfair means of obtaining an advantage over other competitors will result in disqualification. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that the correct course is followed

Your race number must be visible at all times on the outside of your clothing (at the front).

Races numbers are non-transferable. Times and prizes will not be recognised if racing under another entry/name.

Littering is prohibited. We are fortunate to be allowed access to the trail to run our event, so please make sure you leave no trace of having been there. Take all rubbish with you or risk disqualification.

Competitors shall not receive any external assistance on the course. Because of the location of the course, it is inaccessible for any support crew outside the race precinct.

One competitor cannot provide assistance in forward progression through physical pushing / pulling / towing, or the provision of food or drinks to a competitor in another category except in emergency circumstances

Australian Road Rules apply at all times on all roads, tracks and trails

Any competitor who withdraws from the race MUST notify an official. This is an essential requirement to avoid unnecessary searches being conducted and emergency services being engaged

On The Edge Events has sole discretion to alter or amend the race rules in order to increase the safety of participants or for any other reason deemed appropriate

If the race is cancelled or called off after it has started, it is each competitor’s responsibility to get yourself back to the start / finish area as soon as you have been notified of the cancellation.

Signing up for the series gives you a great discount and is a great way to be confident to compete in all races. For some unknown reason where you are unable to compete or are injured, we will not be granting refunds and no events will be transferred to the following year.

When Will I Get my Race Number?

Your race bib will be available for collection on race day between 6:15am – 7:00am.

If I Sign Up For the Series and I Cannot Compete in a Race, am I Able to Get a Refund?

If you are not able to compete in a race or you are injured there will not be a refund as this is already discounted.

Do I Have To Carry a Water Bottle?

Scenic Rim Trail Running Series has a no cup policy. This is an environmental choice. There is water available at the event precinct area and also on the long course for longer distances. If you would like any water during the race, we suggest you take a 500ml water bottle or hydration pack.

Marking on The Course?

All junctions will be clearly marked with an arrow directing you either left or right and hopefully not down.

The Do Not Enter sign will be clearly marked on the tracks. If you see this sign you are clearly heading in the wrong direction.

Can I Transfer My Entry to Someone Else?

Participants can transfer their entry to someone else – these requests can be made on race day, for a transfer fee of $10 or email us at [email protected] 7 days prior to the event.

Can I Change to a Longer Distance?

If participants want to transfer from short course to long course, you will be required to pay the difference on the day of the event and please notify us by emailing [email protected]

Can I Change to a Shorter Distance?

Participants can transfer from long course to short course, the difference between the two entry fees will not be refunded. Please email us at [email protected]

Can I Push a Pram in the Event?

No. For safety reasons and because of the rough terrain and limited width of some trails, prams are not permitted at any of the race courses. Can I bring my dog or other pet to run/walk with me? No. For safety reasons and because many of the events are held in National Parks, animals are not permitted on the course.

Can I ride my bike alongside my friend who is running?

No. For safety reasons, bikes and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.

Will it be timed?

Yes, our event races are all timed.

Where can I find my results?

The results will be posted onto the event website shortly after each event on the Results page

What should I wear?

Comfortable running gear and shoes suited to running on ‘off-road’ surfaces. Participants should be aware that some fabrics can induce chaffing, which can become quite severe, especially for those in the long course runs. It is advisable that you wear clothing that you have trained in and are confident that you will be able cover the distance comfortably in.

Where will the first aid station be located?

First aid stations will be located in the event precinct area for each race.

When are prizes issued?

Prize giving takes places at the end of the race for first, second and third place male and female. Lucky door prizes will be drawn after this and you must be at the event to collect your prize.
