Route description
Route description

The ride starts at Snow Farm (1521m) and winds its way south around the easy gradient cross-country ski trails of Snow Farm before dropping down into the Roaring Meg valley (1420m). From this point, it is a steady uphill climb toward Mt. Pisa. The course veers left before the summit at 1916m then there is a downhill to 1850m.

Next is a reasonably hard climb (some riders may need to push their bike at this point) to the top of Sally’s Pinch heading toward the highest point of the race, 1946m, before heading downhill toward Luggate. The downhill does, in places require some amount of skill to ride. If in doubt you may need to get off and walk a bit, but most skilled riders will be able to negotiate these parts with relative ease.

The most challenging part of the course lies just below the high point and before Lake McKay – the terrain is rutty and rocky, continuing for 500m in length.

The course is best know for its downhill section, which is mostly fantastic with a few challenging bits.  The race is branded a true Mountain Bike event –there is no cotton wool provided.
