This race is perfect for Spring marathon training. It's perfect too for those looking to run the distance for the first time or for those looking to post a fast time.

The race is on a pancake-flat course through the lanes surrounding the Marsh town of Lydd. Runners of all standards are welcome and race profits are donated to the Mayor of Lydd's Charity Fund.

The race will, once again, enjoy the sponsorship of Brett, the UK's largest independent construction and building materials company.

Course Details

The Course:
The race will start on the main road adjacent to the Banks Sports Club in Dennes Lane, which is found just off the High Street. Participants will head out to the north of the town and cover a rural out and back route through the quiet lanes surrounding the town before making their way back to Lydd to finish at the Sports Club. The route takes in the popular Lydd Half Marathon course, plus it is pancake flat, will be officially measured and carries a certificate of course accuracy.

The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please note that the roads will only be closed for the start of the race and although they are quiet lanes there is a chance you may meet a vehicle on the route.

There is no cut off time for the 20 mile race, however please note that marshals will be stood down after 4 and a half hours. If you believe you will be beyond this time we will have an early start at 9.30 am.

Kit List

Will my race number be posted out to me?

For most of our events, your race number will be posted out to you. If you have entered one of our summer evening 5k events or a mid-week winter event, your race number will be waiting to collect on the night. You will receive an email upon entry that will state whether your number is sent out to you or not.

Can I wear headphones?

Under UK Athletics rules headphones are no longer permitted in events that take place on roads open to traffic and runners risk disqualification if spotted wearing headphones with the exception of bone conducting headphones. Heaphones are permitted for events taking place 'off road' or closed to traffic however you must be able to hear marshal's instructions and other runners around you.

Can I run with a buggy?

Yes buggies are permitted at our events but some events are not suitable due to course conditions. If you have a query on a particular event please contact us.

FAQs

Must be 18 as of 10/03/19 to register.

Whats the difference between attached / affiliated and unattached / unaffiliated?

Runners who are members of a UK Athletics affiliated running club are 'attached' runners; if you are not a member, then you are 'unattached'

Can I walk the event?

Our events are designed for runners; however, we do have walkers at some of our events. You may be asked to start the event earlier than the advertised start time and to complete the course un-marshalled, depending on the distance. Please contact us if you’d like to walk a race and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Can I run with a dog?

UK Athletics rules prohibit dogs in races. However, for some of the more ‘fun’ events, it may be possible subject to certain conditions - please check with us beforehand. Our Canicross races are, of course, dog-friendly!

Could have done with some more toilets, apart from that all good I really enjoyed the course, apart from the winds, and will be coming along next year.

Lovely flat and well organized race. Thoroughly enjoyed the countryside along the way. Staff and volunteers were great from start to finish. Thank you

This is a great race that's well organised and a pleasure to run. The course is across the Romney Marsh area and therefore totally flat - only hurdle were the fallen trees this year.

Really great flat half marathon along quiet country lanes. Well organised and marshalled throughout. Two bits of advice though: 1 - pick a day without wind as the course is very exposed and 2 - get there early for easy parking!

What strength and happiness and enthusiastic efforts from all marshals From sawing trees to non stop cheering and keeping us safe Thank you!

Very well organised although conditions on the day very challenging with winds and rain but the sun was welcome

Inspire of the extreme conditions - I wore a smile for the duration of the event. The area is beautiful and it was such a confidence boost completely my first ever 20mile event (5milws further than Ive ever run) on a flat, quiet course. The water stations manned by enthusiastic cubs and Brownies -with jelly bean treats - were fabulous at offering encouragement.

Great flat race. Well organised and easy to navigate. Thanks to the marshals and the organisers of such a unique event!
