From the organiser

The Brett Lydd 20 Mile race is an ideal event for all those training for London, Brighton or other Spring marathons.

The course uses the same fast and flat route as the popular Lydd Half Marathon. Using the wide, pancake-flat lanes surrounding the Marsh town of Lydd, PBs are highly likely. Runners of all standards are welcome and race profits are donated to the Mayor of Lydd's Charity fund.

There is a 100 prize for leading man and lady along with prizes for 2nd and 3rd male and females. Plus there are age category prizes for male and female winners in the vet categories 1 - 7.

Course Details

The Course
The race will start on the main road adjacent to the Banks Sports Club in Dennes Lane, which is found just off the High Street. Participants will head out to the north of the town and cover a rural out and back route through the quiet lanes surrounding the town before making their way back to Lydd to finish at the Sports Club. The route takes in the popular Lydd Half Marathon course, plus it is pancake flat, will be officially measured and carries a certificate of course accuracy.

The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please note that the roads will only be closed for the start of the race and although they are quiet lanes there is a chance you may meet a vehicle on the route.

There is no cut off time for the 20 mile race, however please note that marshals will be stood down after 4 and a half hours. If you believe you will be beyond this time we will have an early start at 9.30 am.

Raceday Logistics

First Aid

St John Ambulance or another medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.
