Kit List
How do I attach my race number?

Please attach your race number to the front of your running top or vest using safety pins or clips, securing it on all four corners. Please don’t attach your number to the back of your shirt as it is difficult for our timekeepers and marshals to identify you.

How do I attach my timing chip?

Your timing chip is incorporated into your race number and should not be removed. Please place the race number on the front of your vest/shirt and not on your leg or back.

My second Half Marathon and a great course. Only downside of the route was that being a two lap along the seafront, approx 8 miles was running into the wind! It was tough going! Some up/down hills due to using the seafront and promenade but I was expecting this as have completed Clacton Parkrun a few times.

Well organised and very well supported by locals, especially at the finish area. Plenty of water supplied plus coke, jaffa cakes and jelly babies on the final lap.

The marshals were encouraging and helpful plus the course was well marked. As it got later in the day, the seafront did get a bit busier and some families were oblivious to the runners.

If you need to use the toilet before the start, join the queue early & bring loo roll! Only a couple of public cubicles were available.

Great medal, my first that wasn't round! Water, sweets and bananas provided at the finish.

This was the first time that I have ever ran a half marathon. The only real criticism I have of the clacton half is the placement and supervision of drinks stations. You pass drink stations 4 times, however, the placement of them means that you visit a drinks station twice within a couple of miles and then you have no water until the following station which is at the other end of the course. We also found that there were not enough volunteers on the drinks stations and you had to stop to wait to get a drink. Apart from that, it was generally a good experience and I will be back again next year - all be it with my own drinks!

A windy and tough race. It was harder than I thought but everything was well organised from water stations to marshal.Regarding free parking. I didn’t know until I arrived when a marshal pointed us to the free carpark. It wasn’t mentioned in the race pack unfortunately. I also like to say thank you to Martin Burke for giving me the bib nr I requested.

Last year I ran the half marathon, this year the 10km. For a flat (ish) route it's pretty challenging mentally. It's not the most well supported race and you can spend a lot of time running on your own without people around you or spectators. The pier in the distance as you head along the promenade is a constant reminder of how far you've got to run (twice for the half!) but it's a beautiful setting, the sun was shining and the sea was blue. The head wind was pretty harsh, my pace dropped more and more as I felt I was battling against it, then turned to come back expecting a nice tail wind but there was nothing! Just heat!!  The race was well organised, the car parking plentiful and the toilets clean, however post race there was no toilet roll!  This year the medal was fantastic after last years rather inferior effort.  I would do the race again, maybe not 2 days after a PB 10k however, I was tired and probably over estimated my ability!! My issue - nothing to do with the race!!!
