This 5 part Desert Ultra is a real test. Travel 250km across the world's oldest desert, the Namib Desert, camping overnight as you go. While it might be challenging, this event is definitely worth the effort for the once in a lifetime experience.

The Desert Ultra route

This 250km race split into 5 stages will be like nothing you've experienced before. Travelling over sand dunes, baking scrubland, dry river beds in the shadows of rocky mountains, this course is gruelling and breathtaking.

Expect sweltering heat during the day, and plummeted temperatures at night and periods of darkness where you'll travel under the stars.

What’s Included

Accommodation each night will be provided by the organiser. Participants are expected to carry the rest of their equipment and kit as this is a self-sufficient race.

Raceday Logistics

Distance: 250km

The race will be split into 5 separate stages, with camping overnight in between.

Kit List

This race is self-sufficient, so participants are responsible for carrying their entire kit during the trip. Some recommended and essential items are listed below:

  • Food
  • Safety equipment
  • Minimum of 2.5L of water (to be refilled at checkpoints along the way)

Some specialist gear is also recommended to help you take on the world's oldest desert.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will camping be provided?
Yes, camping equipment will be provided by the event team. Participants are expected to be self-sufficient for everything else however.
How hot does it get during the day?
Temperatures during the day can reach around 35°C, even going as high as 55°C, while the nights can reach as low as 5°C. Please be prepared for both.
What kind of terrain is the Desert Ultra?
The terrain is a mix of sand dunes, scrub land, and dry river beds.
