The HALO is a 4-mile lapped route across hilly fields, picturesque woodland, and beautiful valleys. The high starting elevation on this route will give all participants beautiful views across 2 counties before they plunge downward towards a lakeside section.
Participants will then twist through a woodland section before climbing back up to the high meadows.
Run as many laps of this trail course as you can in 6 or 12 hours. The winner is the one who completes the most full laps in their time frame. The current record is 10 laps (male) and 9 laps (female).
Feel free to walk during sections if you wish, this event is relaxed and inclusive.

There will be free parking at the event, located at High Ashes Rural Project, High Ashes Lane, Chesterfield, S45 0LH.
Please drive in via the northern end of High Ashes Lane, S450LL. The lane from the south is tight and cattle-y.
By Car
Take the A67 and turn off at Chesterfield Road and continue onto Alicehead Road, then turn onto Highashes Lane to find the starting area at the high ashes rural project.

Age Requirements
Entrants must be 18 years of age or over on race day.
Cut-off time
The cut-off time for the challenge is 6 or 12 hours depending on what race you have signed up to. Try and squeeze in as many laps as possible.
Aid stations
There will be a fully loaded aid station for every lap with sweet and savoury food and drinks.
Event Rules
  • Runners have 6 hours / 12 hours to complete as many laps as they can. The route will be marked, you must stick to the route and register in with the checkpoint every time you pass.
  • Any runner who is, in the opinion of the race directors or marshals, unfit to continue will be withdrawn from the race. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
  • You are responsible for your own kit choice, bear in mind the weather conditions on the day (High Ashes is very exposed). Due to the lapped nature of the event, mandatory kit is kept to a minimum, see the kit list below.
  • You must act on any marshals instructions at road crossings.
  • Retiring from the event - return to the checkpoint to retire. Once you retire from the event, your race number must be surrendered and you will not be allowed to continue.
  • Do not drop any litter.
  • Respect other users of the countryside, fellow competitors and marshals.
  • No climbing over fences, please use the stiles/gates.
  • No dogs allowed (the route makes extensive use of farmland).

No, due to the course being on extensive farmland you must not run with your dog at this event.
