The Longhorn is back!

Choose 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon or 60k Ultra set in private areas of Sherwood Forest & the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park; next to a Grade1 listed 19th Century country house in north Nottinghamshire; Thoresby Hall.

Running over old military roads, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in the most scenic countryside & forest. The elevation is noted on the downloadable course map. The course has very firm hard ground if dry (2015) but if we get rain (or snow!) then there can also be considerable amount of muddy areas to run through (2016).

Throughly enjoyed The Longhorn 10km. The event was well organised with great communication leading up to the event and on the day itself with loud and clear announcements throughout the day. The course itself was mainly trail and very undulating which is explained in pre-race communication but it was still a shock! The course itself was very scenic set in lovely grounds. Thankfully the weather was good leading up to the day so the course was dry otherwise it could of been a whole different story. Can imagine it would be bad in awful weather conditions. The cows on route wasnt as bad as I thought they'd be! One to do again for sure!

A really lovely event for novice and experienced trail runners alike; great organisation fantastic bling and options to purchase merchandise at reasonable prices. Amanda, Celsie and the team create brilliant, well organised events in some beautiful countryside- Mile/KM markers throughout and happy to marshal marshals
