This event is made up of three races: 40 mile, 70 mile and 112 mile.
The Wales Sportive is a closed road event. Aero bars and TT bikes are NOT permitted. Drafting and peloton riding is permitted.
Cyclists competing in each of the categories will have a staggered start, with the 112-mile athletes starting first and the 45-mile athletes leaving last.

Preparation
In order to take part in the event you must bring Photo ID and have signed the disclaimer prior to registration. It is also imperative that you watch the Video Briefing prior to the event.
Age Restrictions
You must be 14 years or over to compete in the 40 mile distance, 16 years or over to compete in the 70 mile distance, and 18 years or over to compete in the 112 mile distance.
Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult entered into the race or it will be assumed they are capable of completing the distance on their own.
Toilets
Toilets are available at the following places:
  • Upper Park Road
  • Lower Park Road
  • Castle Beach
  • South Beach Car Park
Rules
  • Only registered athletes are allowed on the course, unregistered athletes will be removed from the course. Any riders riding with unregistered riders will be disqualified.
  • Anyone falling behind the road reopening will be counted as DNF
  • Cyclists must keep left of the white lines (where present) unless they are overtaking. When overtaking cyclists also must communicate clearly to others.
  • Be aware of potholes. Ride within your ability.
  • TT Bikes and road bikes with Tri Bars or AeroBars are not allowed
  • Your bike must be roadworthy which complies with the British Triathlon Federation rules
  • E-Bikes or tandems are strictly prohibited
  • Your helmet must meet British Triathlon specifications of ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN1078. A "CE" mark is not an approved mark and is not accepted.
  • The helmet must not be cracked and the strap must be in working order
  • You must apply one sticker to your bike post and another to the front of you helmet
  • Your bib must be applied to your back and be visible at all times
  • You must not wear clothing that exposes your torso
  • All athletes must carry 2 water bottles
  • Athletes are not permitted to wear headphones, headsets, technical earplugs or any other listening device
  • Athletes must not use any glass containers
  • Athletes must not use any personal recording device
Cut-off Times
To meet the cut-off times riders must cycle at the following speeds for each course:
  • 112 mile: 12.5mph
  • 70 mile: 9mph
  • 42 mile: 8mph
