Route information
This is a hidden gem in the ultra world and is about 80 to 85 per cent off road. The Two Moors Ultra follows the Two Moors Way throughout its duration from Lynmouth, across the wild and desolate expanse of Exmoor, through the verdant fields and river crossings of North Devon and then across Dartmoor National Park. You’ll be well fed and watered at the 6 checkpoints along the way.
You will cross the famous Tarr Steps, pass through several pretty thatched villages (with short sections of tarmac) where there is a chance to stock up on supplies, water and coffee if you feel the need to supplement our fuel stations.
You will cross the A road to reach Drewsteignton and through Drogo, where you can refuel at our well stocked checkpoint.
From the castle you will descend in to the Teign Valley, skirting the river towards Chagford, where you will pick up signs for Frenchbeer and head on to the fringes of Dartmoor towards Fernworthy Reservoir. You will cross the 3212 and up and over to the famous Bronze age settlement Grimspound. From here, you follow Hameldown Ridge to Jordan and back on lovely hidden river paths, heading for Dr Blackalls Drive and New Bridge, where our refuelling station awaits.
From Scorriton, it’s a tough climb up Pupper’s Hill, crossing the Avon via a clapper bridge if you’ve picked up the correct path. The run in to Ivybridge is straight forward, following the Puffer Billy trail (old tramway) all the way to Ivybridge, where our fuel station and finish for the Two Moors Ultra awaits, at the train station.
