The Ultra kick-starts from the waters edge of Lake Arareco, before passing the Valley of the Monks and weaving through the Indian Village of St. Ignacio. From here, runners will make their way to the 'Magic Town' of Creel and into the beckoning crowd at Checkpoint 1.
Runners will spend the night camped at the edge of Oteros Canyon.
Day Two will offer runners their first glimpse of the epic Copper Canyon. After a climb up to Huerachi, the route drops down to Divisidaro and along the Canyon edge through the 'Adventure Park' trail. This picturesque route quickly turns into a formidable challenge after CP3 - runners can expect 8KM of scrambling up and down along the Canyon's edge before arriving at the abandoned Areponapuchi Hotel. The final section is a large descent into Guitavo Canyon where the campsite awaits.
Day Three encompasses a variety of dirt roads and single track trails which culminate in the old canyon town of Urique - the deepest point of the Copper Canyon.
There are a mixture of challenging technical descents but it will all be worth it for the buzzing support at Urique where an evening of local entertainment awaits.
Day Four will be the largest and most challenging route. Waking at the crack of dawn, runners will find their way under the light of the moon to begin with. The initial 30KM ares spent on the famous Caballo Blanco Ultra Marathon course which snakes up the river. Next, athletes will climb a steep 600m up to the picturesque settlement of Naranjon.
Runners will then loop back toward Urique - through crowd lined streets - before heading up toward Pierre Redondre to spend a well earned night's sleep looking over the Urique Canyon.
Almost there - stage five kick's off with one final climb before dropping 1,400m into Batopilas Canyon. At the bottom, runners will follow a single track trail which meanders along the river and through the streets of Batopilas.
Competitors will finish in the main plaza and the celebrations will begin.
