Ultra X 50 Scotland is a single-stage ultra marathon that takes place over one day around Loch Ness.
The course takes participants from the southern end of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus, to Loch Ness Beach in Dores, covering a total distance of 50km (31 miles).
The South Loch Ness Trail and the Trail of the 7 Lochs, which weave through lowland wooded forests and over highland mountain trails, past waterfalls, idyllic lakes, and ancient castles, all the while offering stunning views over Loch Ness.

Ultra X 125 Scotland is a multi-stage ultra marathon that takes place over two days around Loch Ness.
The course takes participants on a circumnavigation of Loch Ness, following the Great Glen Way and the South Loch Ness Trail from Bught Park Pitches in Inverness to Loch Ness Beach in Dores, covering a total distance of 125km (78 miles).

By Car
Take the M77 and follow into Glasgow before turning onto Langside Avenue and continuing on through Battlefield Road until reaching the 125k start at Queens Park Football Club.
Take the 82 and follow towards Glendoebeg. The starting line is at Glendoe Holiday Cottages.
To the Start-Line
Participants in the 125k should travel by plane to Inverness Airport or Inverness train station on or before Friday the 6th of May. They are responsible for transferring themselves to their accommodation.
The 125k stage starts at 7:00 from Queens Park Stadium in Inverness. This is located next to Hampden Stadium.
Those in the 50k should travel to Inverness and then depart Inverness train station by 07:00 to get to the start line in Fort Augustus (60 min journey).
Return Journey
There are bus transfers for those in the 125k & 50k which will depart in waves from 15:00 on Sunday.

Age Requirements
You must be aged at least 18 years old on the day of the event to participate.
Cut-Off
Cut-offs will be communicated to participants before the race though the organisers usually have a generous time allowance of 2.5 hours for every 10k.
Participants can withdraw at any time, they must inform the organisation and hand in their bib number to a race marshal.
Race Packs
Runners will bring their own race equipment in their running bags. There are bib numbers included in participants' race packs.
Facilities
Medical staff will be located on-site and offer body maintenance services and IV treatment to those who need it (runners incur a 1hr30 time penalty for using the latter).
The organiser will provide those in the 125k with hot water at the camp after the finish on Saturday and two hours after the scheduled start on Sunday.
Tents
The living accommodation consists of tents shared by up to six competitors. These will be chosen at random by gender unless specifically requested to share.
Penalties
Those who litter in tents, sleep outside the camp compound, fail to follow course markings and fail to comply with a mandatory stop will receive a 1-hour penalty.
50k Aid Stations
This is not a self-supported race. Participants only need to carry their mandatory safety equipment, nutrition, and hydration.
125k Aid Stations
Competitors will need to be self-sufficient (supply their own food) from Saturday 7th May to Sunday 8th May. It is recommended that
Bag Drop
Race organisers are able to transfer a bag between the start, campsite and finish.
For the 50k, this bag must be a maximum of 6kg. For the 125k, they can take a main travel bag of 25kg which is available to them at the finish line and a race 'Holdall' of a 6kg maximum which will be transported to each stage on the course.
Holdalls will be weighed and any that weigh more than 6kg will not be transported.
Running Bags
Running bags should be bought by participants and must be large enough to hold the mandatory items on the kit list. Participants must run with these bags on their backs at all times.
Event Rules
Please be aware that who are disqualified or withdraw early are not offered transport home.
Those who require IV treatment (Medical staff decision is final), will incur a 1hr30 time penalty.
Random spot checks will be carried out for participants to ensure that they have all the required items for the kit.
All participants in the 125k and 50k are responsible for getting themselves to the start line on time.
Participants are required to bring a minimum of 2000 calories per day for each day of the race alongside 800 calories of emergency fuel each day.
There are checkpoints located at every 10k, please make sure to travel through these and ensure that you travel to the closest course marker. If you cut switchbacks on paved or dirt courses it is considered intentional course cutting.
